A triumphant return to hosting!
I'm a British-born, American raised English teacher currently living in Spain after a long period of vagrancy and general ill-repute.
Everyone has a personal responsibility to soak in as many strange situations as they can get themselves into.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I started out hosting, surfed for a while, and now I'm looking to open my sofa to anyone keen on a night or two here in Cartagena.
I haven't had that many surfing experiences, but so far I've exclusively been pleased with my hosts on both sides of the Atlantic.
One of the wonderful things I've experienced as a host is the chance for an outsider to show you new things in a place where you've lived for quite a long time. Travel, and travelers, offer a fantastic way to get new perspective on familiar views.
I'm a halfway decent bassist, and I've got a classical guitar and a harmonica around the house if you're keen on any of those things!
I love stand-up comedy, plays and musicals, and walking through unusual places. I tend to prefer interesting quiet spots rather than major tourist hubs. I'm a terrifyingly mediocre cook, but I like to watch other, more talented people cook and ask irritating questions; I quite enjoy board games. I enjoy good museums and I also like to go to unfamiliar libraries and not check anything out.
I enjoy going out and having a good brew or similar, but I rarely drink to excess and almost never if I'm not within ten feet of a reliable place to sleep.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm criminally underwatched in movies. I quite enjoy horror films. I'm well versed in Tarantino and Nolan as directors, and my favorite films are Dark City, The Third Man, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
I'm criminally overlistened in music, although there are of course a million great albums I've never heard. I enjoy jazz a lot, and 60s and 70s rock, particularly British Invasion stuff. For contemporaries, I'm mad for Fiona Apple, Andrew Bird, and St. Vincent. I have a growing love of hip-hop.
I've read an average amount of books. My favorite novels are "House of Leaves" and "Crime and Punishment" and my favorite nonfiction tends to have Patton Oswalt or Carl Sagan on the cover. I also like science fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did a lot of work with people with disability while working for a nonprofit in the States and it was generally pretty incredible. The level of variety and adventure that I experienced in that job was nuts; ask me about it, I've got plenty of stories to share there!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you the rhythm, but you'll have to bring your own blues.
I teach English as a foreign language so I can help with that. I know a lot about internetworking and the composition of the Internet if for some reason that's your bag. I can converse adequately about psychology and inadequately about Continental philosophy.
