Chill yet chaotic. Social at times, "introverted" other times. A chicken running with its head cut off or lazing around like a sloth. "A walking contradictory," a friend calls me.
I don't enjoy small talk (please don't make me do this), but I do enjoy exploring big things to minute details--whether it be on a hike or during a conversation. On a never ending journey of self improvement/realization, exploring, eating, learning, experimenting, sharing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've done a bit of traveling, but mostly for the food and the scenery. I really, really enjoy trying new food. Now, I travel more for new experiences through people. I've enjoyed hanging out with "old" friends for the first time.
I enjoy hosting too!.. when I actually have a place lol. I’ve been a little nomadic the last some years. I have a 2nd bike and love to cook. Conversation over good food is a great way to experience the world in your own home =)
I also want the world to go back to being a community. I want to share and experience the warmth of my community, as well as broaden it little by little. Couchsurfing also helps me grow by learning to be a better person and by expanding my horizons (and others’ when I tell them about my experiences). Thank you lovely people!
Let's get together and dance and run around wildly like children =D
Food food and more food...and drinks too. Don't waste food. jogging outside, [moderate] hiking, nature, sleeping under the stars...fresh air---ohhhh yeaaaa
Being introduced to new things, learning, dancing, gardening, exploring, volunteering, random scientific/intellectual articles and lectures, sustainability, genuine people, helping and receiving help, strangers on the road, laughing, questioning, the smell of wood burning, working with my hands, the crinkly noise of autumn leaves mixed with the smell of them decomposing in the woods, alone time. Running/booking in the rain with sun.
- swing dancing
- new experiences
- fresh air
Music, Movies, and Books
No favorites; just depends on the mood, but not into much rap or heavy metal. Otherwise, it's fair game. Upbeat music in the morning to wake me up; chill instrumental at night before bed; random mix while biking. I definitely do enjoy blues and instrumental a lot. I'd love some suggestions too!
Not much of a reader. I don't watch movies/tv much, but like sci-fi/adventure stuff, comedies, documentaries...Marvel movies/shows, Star Wars, Dr Who, Sherlock Holmes, White Collar
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
working on it...life, that is...it's freakin hard xD
I went to Vietnam on my first solo trip for a month. I was timid and a bit scared (still am haha), especially after my family kept telling me how bad it was there (they're from Vietnam, and some live there). I enjoyed the hell out of the trip because I talked to strangers [in hostels and on the streets], got personal with them (as in had great conversations!), hung out with them for days, traveled with someone I just met for two weeks, and enjoyed random street food with some of these wonderful strangers.
So, the amazing thing I've done was talk and trust in strangers.
To add to this now, I wanted to reinforce the idea that people are good as it seemed to be easy to get jaded. I hitchhiked and Couchsurfed the first 2 months of a recent trip and it made me feel so much better about the world! I felt so taken cared of. I thought of the world as drifting further and further apart, having no sense of community. But this part of my trip has proven that there is community when you need it.
saw bio-luminescent fungi, went biking, hiked with great people, received help from strangers, made (and ate lots of cake), communicated (and was understood by) with people in different languages, ate/cooked amazing food with amazing people, saw a young child go from fearful to joyful, received a hug, was welcomed, and....and.....and......
Teach, Learn, Share
Food gives me [a] life (ya know, it gives it energy) through passion and the reward of sharing it.
I could attempt to teach you Vietnamese...it's my 1st language, yet I'm not as proficient with it as my 2nd:D Exact translations can be great...cow cake--sounds yummy, right?
I will honestly share whatever I can: my experiences, whatever random knowledge I may have, a good cup of coffee, conversation over a meal [that we prepared together would be nice], a nice walk/jog/hike...
Please teach me many things! I like being walked through a process like a 5 year old.
I love working with my hands ( cooking, gardening, mechical work (really need to learn more) or doing something active (wanna learn some aerial sports). Of course I'd like to learn how to make some more amazing food!
About you! About how life is, your culture, how you think....
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hopefully some laughs, good food, and whatever else that comes to mind in the moment. I'm definitely clean and mindful. I'll be glad to cook and share a meal with you! I'd love to [attempt to] help with projects and chores...esp if it's something cool;) let's go on an adventure together!
