About Me

I am a very spiritual, nature loving world traveller and a conscious caring-about-the-environment type of person. I am at my happiest if I can walk somewhere and am an avid long-distance walker. I am a down-to-earth traveller, always focussing on traditional and cultural experiences and am happy to sleep on the floor, as long as it's not in a hotel room....I'm the back-packing style traveller who am satisfied with as little as possible. I love trying out new types of foods and meeting fellow world-travellers. I love the desert first and foremost, mountains and the sea. Cities not so much! When not travelling, I am business-orientated and spend long and irregular hours building my travel business after covid. You'll find me to be a good host, caring about you and your experiences. if we have time, I will take you on some local experiences with a smile. I love sharing stories with foreign travellers and will aim to help where I can. My aim isn't only to travel the world however, but also while I'm travelling, to do good deeds too. For this reason I also do volunteer travels through workaway or private, which enriches my soul and makes me grateful for what I have in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have travelled to many countries and fully understand the challenges that travellers can have with respect to finances. I too am a very budget-conscious backpacker traveller. I have the means to host someone and I hope when I need it someone will also want to host me. If together we can help each other travel in a more economic and sustainable way, we already would have done a lot of good in this world. I also want to share my own life experiences and learn as much as possible about other travellers experiences, cultures, countries and traditions.
I am however not always available as I travel for my work, or I have to work from home. I can show you around when I can, but that will not be always. In my area uber works well to use and there are malls and smaller shops. I cannot provide all your meals but I can provide you with a room.

**Couch-surfers should be aware that I have a cat who walks around freely

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have trekked for 9 days through the Moroccan Sahara desert in 2017 and again in February 2023 and 2024 I have trekked over 700km in 37 days through the Sahara desert!
I have swam 3 times for good luck in the holy Mother Ganga in India!
I have run with a cheetah for 3 hours through the bushes of Namibia!
I have washed elephants in an elephant sanctuary in Thailand
I have been detained and interrogated in Egypt by the airport police for having a child's toy dagger in my backpack...I delayed the flight by an hour and an airport security official flew with me all the way back, i still don't know why...
I have eaten crocodile in the wilds of Africa
I have been caught in a 3 day blizzard in Morocco, overstayed my visa as a result and spent 3 days of hell in a Moroccan court and police stations...
I have been searched by the airport police in Turkey (who deliberately kept by luggage behind) only because I was stamped out twice by my own immigration on the system
I've gone to the war-torn Tigray province in Ethiopia and climbed sheer rock faces to reach the hidden and most inaccessible rock-hewn churches on earth
I've been to the most inhospitable, one of the lowest, most brutal and hot places on earth...the Danakil Depression in Ethiopia...and been to the Erta ale volcano and Dallol colourful chemical and sulphur formations, with a 15 year old policeman with his big gun to keep us safe - we were 30km from the Eritrean borders...

Teach, Learn, Share
