About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Never stop exploring... and passing on the joy of food and travel to the next generation!

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised near Denver, Colorado, lived for a year in South Korea teaching English, two years in Cambodia teaching at a university in Siem Reap, two years in Dubai, and a few months in Chile. After over a year hiatus between the US and Italy, I returned to the UAE for a few years, took another year to travel around North America, and am now in Colombia, hopefully to stay for a while. I love to do anything outdoors, especially hiking and running. I will basically try anything, even if I have to face a phobia to do it (bungee jumping even though I'm afraid of heights, and scuba diving even though I'm afraid of open water). I have traveled to 60+ different countries. The most important thing you should know about me is that I love food- eating it, cooking it, talking about it, looking at pictures of it, thinking about it, dreaming about it... if you are a foodie, we will probably be good friends. I hope you can handle that kind of commitment.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short...eat dessert first.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted several people while in South Korea and Cambodia, and I've had some really great couchsurfing hosts so far! I think it's a great way to share cultures and food, and to just have a local perspective in a new destination. I've made some lifelong friends through CS!

Interests

Eating, hiking, painting, reading, running, watching movies, traveling, exploring, scuba diving, laughing, and um...eating. That needs to be listed twice. I enjoy EVERYTHING, and will basically try anything once.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Coming to America, Cool Runnings.

Books: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Kite Runner, The Joy Luck Club, Like Water for Chocolate, The House of the Spirits, Pigs in Heaven, My Sister's Keeper, There Are No Children Here, Savage Inequalities, First They Killed My Father, What is the What, The Alchemist...and a lot more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Angkor Wat, Siem Riep, Cambodia. My family is from Cambodia, so the first time I saw Angkor Wat was very memorable. It marks the height of the Khmer kingdom, and essentially, the most remarkable period of history for my people. Cambodia has since gone through a lot of turmoil, and the still-standing structural awe of Angkor Wat is a great testament to the will of the people.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an English teacher, so I can teach you English! And I am always wanting to learn something new. One of my first, amazing, couchsurfing hosts taught me how to do the Rubik's cube! :)
