About Me

Hi! I’m Louna, 28 years old, half Belgian and half French.
I lived in France most of my life before moving to Canada three years ago, where I worked in the film industry creating visual effects for movies and TV shows.

Now I’ve decided to take a break from that life and start a big adventure with my boyfriend Nathanael. We just arrived in Thailand with a one-way ticket and no real plan, just going with the flow and seeing where the road takes us!

It’s my first time traveling this way, without organizing everything in advance. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and prove to myself that I can handle the unexpected. Nathanael, who’s 24, hasn’t traveled much before. This is his first real adventure abroad. He’s starting from zero in English and struggles quite a bit, but he’s doing his best and improving every day.

We’re both beginners in this way of traveling and not always totally at ease yet, but we’re working on ourselves to get more comfortable and confident with each new experience.

We’re trying to live new things like hitchhiking, meeting locals, learning from people rather than just visiting touristic places. We’re easy-going, respectful, and grateful for any kind of help or encounter along the way :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I grew up in a house where my parents often hosted travelers through a similar network called Servas. I loved listening to their stories and learning about their cultures.

This summer, I hosted a few travelers myself in France and realized how much I enjoy meeting people this way.
Now that I’m traveling, I’d rather stay with locals, share meals and stories, and really experience the country instead of just visiting it from the outside.

I’m not here to find free accommodation, what I’m actually looking for is connection, exchange, and authentic encounters with the people who make each place and memories special.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During a school trip to Greece, my friends and I found five newborn puppies abandoned in a plastic bag. Our teachers refused to let us take them, but we couldn’t leave them behind. So we secretly fed them with milk, hid them in our bags, and sang on the bus to cover their squeaks during a two-day trip with a long bus and ferry ride back to France.
All five survived and found loving homes, and one even became a police dog!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help with French or English, and I can play (and teach you) a bit of piano too !
If we can find the right ingredients and tools, I’d love to teach you how to make a proper crème brûlée (famous French desert).
I’d also be happy to share about French and Québécois culture and ways of life :)

I’m always curious to learn new things, especially about local traditions, and daily life of the people I'm meeting !

What I Can Share with Hosts

We’d be more than happy to help out with daily tasks or anything that needs to be done around the house.
I can share stories from my travels (even though I’m just at the beginning of this one), talk about life in France or Canada, or cook something together.
Mostly, we’d love to share good conversations, laughter, board games, or movies if you enjoy them. Of course, only if you have the time to do so, if not, that’s perfectly fine too, we can just stay out of your way during the day to let you have your space :)
