About Me

Hey there! I’m Lua. :)
Brazilian traveler, artist, and therapist who finds joy in deep conversations, cultural exchanges, and meaningful human connections.
Living in Lisbon, I’m HR Talent Acquisition for a French Company, Therapist and sometimes, I ´m a singer.
I love cooking for friends, I love animals and I'm crazy by nature, music and genuine connections.

I’m not as crazy about parties anymore; I prefer a healthy lifestyle and good habits. However, sometimes I enjoy going out to dance with friends and listening to great music. My favorite routine is peaceful- going to bed early, living calmly, having deep conversations, and being in a cozy place with jazz, blues, soul, and bossa nova playing in the background.

Of course, there are times when I want to go to live concerts, visit amusement parks, and break the routine.
I see a lot of magic in this multiplicity...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe traveling is more than just visiting new places, it’s about creating genuine connections and sharing meaningful experiences. I enjoy meeting kind and positive people, exchanging stories, learning about different cultures, and offering a bit of mine through conversations, music, or food. I appreciate authentic moments, whether exploring nature, cooking a delicious meal, or simply enjoying good company. For me, the best part of traveling is the amazing people we meet along the way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The greatest thing I have ever done? Probably convincing my mom to adopt every stray cat and dog I found as a kid. I had a real talent for rescuing animals and negotiating, which turned our home into a mini shelter. Looking back, that was just the beginning of my instinct to care for others, whether humans or four-legged friends.

Fast forward a few years, and I found myself landing in Dublin without speaking a single word of English, just vibes and Google Translate. I studied at Dublin City University, worked as an au pair for four amazing kids (three energetic boys and a baby girl), and somewhere in between, I accidentally became a singer. What started as a personal challenge led me to perform on big stages and even open concerts for well-known Brazilian bands. And to think I used to be terrified of singing in front of people!

At some point, I picked up a blue ukulele, taught myself to play, and took it traveling with me - including to the desert, which had been a childhood dream. That instrument has been my travel buddy ever since.

I created a volunteer project for immigrants, helping people rediscover their talents, rebuild their careers, and break through barriers like prejudice and xenophobia. Later, I took another leap, moving alone to Portugal to work in mental health, and I started giving talks to inspire women to chase their dreams.

Oh, and did I mention that The Lion King sparked my love for music? I used to sing those songs endlessly as a kid -and somehow, life brought me full circle.

But if I had to pick the greatest thing of all, it would be the friendships I’ve built around the world. From different continents and cultures, I’ve met incredible people who became family, proving that no matter where we go, kindness and connection are universal.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: good people are everywhere, and every journey is worth taking. ✨

Teach, Learn, Share

I love exchanging knowledge and experiences, whether it’s through music, deep conversations, or simply sharing a good meal. I can teach you how to cook Brazilian and Portuguese delights, play a few ukulele chords, or even help with career advice - especially for immigrants navigating new opportunities. In return, I’d love to learn more about different cultures, hidden travel gems, and new songs. But most of all, I believe the best exchanges happen naturally, through stories, laughter, and the simple joy of human connection.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love bringing good energy and meaningful exchanges to every place I visit. I can share home-cooked Brazilian sweets, deep conversations about life, psychology, and personal growth, or even a spontaneous, maybe ukulele session - because music has a way of bringing people together. If my host is interested, I’m happy to teach some Portuguese, exchange, travel stories, and share insights from my journey as an immigrant and traveler. Most of all, I hope to bring a kind, respectful, and positive presence*, because the best part of traveling is the people we meet along the way.
