About Me

Hi there!

I’m Lucia, 34, an Italian journalist and project manager in international cooperation, currently working between Africa and Europe. I’m passionate about human rights, social justice and telling stories that connect people to the world (and the world to people).

I’m curious by nature and love learning from every place and person I meet. Sport and nature are my two main batteries: I’ve played volleyball since I was a kid, fell in love with football (despite the male chauvinist pitches I had to face!).

I’m not a cooking master, but I love baking and exploring food cultures — especially Asian and African. Sometimes I just play my “Italian card” and feed myself with pasta and improvisation :)

Music is my therapy: I listen to it daily, love live gigs, and sometimes play guitar (self-taught).

I like meaningful conversations, spontaneous adventures, and meeting people with different life paths. I believe in curiosity, kindness and the power of sharing a table, a story, or a laugh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hoping for meeting kind people which I would like to keep in touch with, and in between an easy solution accomodation of course :)

Interests

I love moving around by bike wherever I live — last year I was in Rome and explored it entirely on two wheels. It felt like a rare privilege. I chase more sunsets than sunrises (though I’m not above the occasional dawn if it’s worth it).

I’m drawn to stories, whether told over a coffee, during a hike, or while getting lost in a city. My favourite moments, though, are when I see myself smiling and can breathe fully - whether on a SUP, rocked by the waves, or riding down a snowy slope on a snowboard. I love outdoor adventures and that magical mix of music, conversation, and food that can make anywhere feel like home. I deeply love — and need — spending time alone, in silence.

My greatest damned interest? I’ve recently realised I’m afflicted by a curious condition — and no, it’s not kleptomania - but a restless urge to connect the dots between people and places, as if life were one big puzzle. I’m slowly learning to leave a few pieces unplaced. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m not great at labelling music genres, but I’m drawn to songs with a soul — whether it’s folk, rock, or something timeless. I love artists like Jake Bugg, Mumford & Sons, and Kodaline — somewhere between folk-rock and indie-folk. I also have a soft spot for Elton John and for the great Italian songwriters (the real ones!): Fabrizio De André, Francesco Guccini, Rino Gaetano, Lucio Dalla, Francesco De Gregori.

But my heart also beats for certain ‘80s atmospheres — like I Like Chopin by Gazebo, the dreamy sound of Alphaville, or classics like The Sound of Silence. I guess I just like music that can travel through time and still feel alive.
