I was born and raised in Homer, went to college in Washington, and spent 3 years after that living in Tanzania and Zanzibar. I've since moved back to Homer and live in a dry cabin I built with my fiance. I commercial salmon seine in the summertime, and in the wintertime alternate between hanging seine and gillnet, working as a Marine Mammal Observer, and whatever other interesting jobs I find to fill in the gaps.

Although my tiny one-room cabin is too small to host now, in the past when I've had bigger digs, I've always loved it when friends of friends were coming to Alaska and we got connected, without knowing each other. I've met some cool people from all over that way, and hope to offer more of that in the future.

I read a ton and am especially a huge science fiction fan. I also like abstract stuff in between genres, like Kurt Vonnegut, Haruki Murakami, or Tom Robbins. I also really like classics, especially Dickens, Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, etc.

I listen to a lot of 70s sorta music like Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan... I also like alternative hip hop, classical music, and a huge range in between.

I'm happy to help out with house chores, and am a clean, respectful guest who will contribute in any way I can.
