About Me

I recently jumped into self employed after a lifetime of 'safe' employment. A one year leave of absence from my place of employment at McMaster University led me to this decision. In May 2015I departed my home in Hamilton, Ontario and drove across the Northern part of the USA and then diagonally across Canada to the Yukon and Northern BC where I stayed with my cousin at his gold mining camp for 2 months. Since them I have been exploring and WWOOFing around BC.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My irregular income and precious few days to myself leads me to explore couch surfing again for vacation travel.

Interests

I am very interested in organic farming and community living culture and thoroughly enjoyed experiencing and learning about both while WWOOFing in 2015 -16. Any art form is always close to my heart although I am not an artist. I am also fascinated by and am an animal and people lover.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is eclectic. I used to like listening to Deep Roots on CBC radio and go to Bluegrass festivals when I had the time but listen to many other genres depending on my mood and company.
I tend to be drawn to Musicals (such as Chicago and Mama Mia) comedy movies and enjoy Mike Meyers and Adam Sandler type of humour. I also like documentaries (such as Human) and historical movies such as The Lives of Others, The Help. I do not like horror movies at all or movies with a lot of violence.
I read a large variety of books and tend to rotate from light reading, to inspirational to how to books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done is the year i spent traveling from Hamilton, Ontario to the Yukon and back. I was fortunate enough to have had an employer that granted me an extended time for myself. The experience was spectacular and awesome. I have learned much about myself as well as Organic Farming through WWOOFing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been told repeatedly that 'I feel so much better after talking to you' so I suppose I'm a good listener and a comfortable shoulder to lean on.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm happy to help with some household duties or am open to suggestions.
I'm also happy to share travel experiences and life stories with my hosts.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Cuba, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, United States
