About Me
Hey there!
I’m Márk, a guy who just finished university and is looking for adventure anywhere I can find. My profession also entails a good amount of travelling, but I like to go around for fun too. I’m the kind of person who only makes rough plans, and usually goes off in a direction that I find interesting while exploring. I can also be very spontaneous, if a fun opportunity arises.
My hobbies include reading (currently classics), playing the guitar, Krav Maga and callisthenics, hiking, being in nature and generally hanging out with friends or meeting new people. I also got into dancing recently, specifically bachata and west coast swing, but going to classes is a bit difficult to manage unfortunately, because of my work.
I hope this short introduction peaks your interest, looking forward to hosting / staying with you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A good friend of mine told me about this, and it peaked my interest. I’m pretty new to it and want to see where it goes. The main reason of course is that I like to meet all kinds of people from different backgrounds, cultures and opinions, especially if the latter is different from my own. If you’ve got this far, then thanks for taking interest in me. I’ve gotten some impersonal requests lately, if you’re just looking for free accommodation, then I can suggest some cost effective hostels. So if you’re reaching out, please be kind enough to tell me your favourite colour, and perhaps why you’re interested in staying with me. Otherwise I might not get back to you at all. And please refrain from requesting a month in advance, I’m not sure what I’ll be doing myself, you’re not booking a hotel. Usually I’d say a week before is perfect.

Music, Movies, and Books
I’m like a wind turbine… a huge metal fan (sorry for the bad pun) I like both the classics and new stuff
The movies I most like usually contain a twist, I don’t like being able to tell the ending after 10 minutes into the picture. I usually find these in the “psychological thriller” genre.
I’ve read a good amount of science fiction before, namely the original Dune and The Foundation series. If you’re like me and thought they are basically Star Wars in a book, you couldn’t be more wrong, definitely give them a try.
More recently I’ve been catching up with some classics, like Crime and punishment (man I love the Russians, a lot of them are on my list), The great Gatsby and Cather in the rye. Just finished gnawing through the 1200+ pages of The Count of Monte Cristo, and I’ve started Moby Dick, to satisfy my borderline healthy obsession with whales 🐳
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Maybe not the most exciting, but I’m proud of teaching university classes while still attending myself
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m an amateur guitarist, so I can show you some stuff or things that I figured out on my own, those can be great help.
I guess if you’re having trouble with thermodynamics or heat transfer, I can help out, although I’m forgetting quite quickly myself.
And of course I’d be happy to share my experiences, both the fun and the lessons learned type, I’m always open for a good talk.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy cooking a lot, so if you’d like to experience the traditional Hungarian cuisine from the comfort of your home, I’m your man (yes like goulash, but we have other things as well). I’m also happy to help out around the house too.
Anything from the teach, learn, share tab and if we go out, naturally I’d be glad to treat you for a few drinks.
