I’m Shamsul Qamar. Born and raised in the breathtaking Terich Valley of Chitral, the mountains are not just my home—they are my life's calling. As a licensed tour guide and the Director of Terichmir Backpackers Club PVT LTD, I have dedicated my career to the adventure tourism industry. My expertise lies in high-altitude mountaineering and trekking, with a special focus on the spectacular Hindu Kush range. From guiding international expedition teams to achieving my own milestone as a 7,000-meter climber during the 2025 National Expedition to Tirich Mir, I bring firsthand experience and deep local knowledge to every journey. I thrive on sharing the raw, untouched beauty of northern Pakistan with others. Whether you are an experienced climber looking for a reliable guide for your next major summit, an avid hiker wanting to join a trek, or simply an adventurer looking to meet up, stay, and share stories while exploring Chitral, I would be thrilled to connect.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I believe the best way to truly experience a place is through its people. Coming from the Terich Valley, I am incredibly proud of the culture, hospitality, and raw natural beauty of Chitral. Working in adventure tourism has taught me that the most memorable parts of any journey are the connections we make along the way. I joined this community to open my doors to travelers, share stories of the high mountains over local tea, and learn about different cultures from around the world. Whether you need a place to stay, want to meet up to exchange travel stories, or are looking for a local to hike with, I am always happy to connect.

One Amazing Thing I've Done
n 2025, I participated in the National Expedition to Tirich Mir in the Hindu Kush range. During that climb, I pushed my physical and mental limits to achieve a lifelong dream: I officially became a 7,000-meter climber. Standing at that altitude, looking out over the jagged peaks of my home region, was an incredibly humbling and powerful experience. Trekking up from the basecamp at 4,700 meters and surviving the harsh conditions up high taught me resilience in a way nothing else could.

What I Can Share With Hosts
Epic mountaineering stories from the Hindu Kush, professional tips on planning high-altitude treks, and the warm, welcoming spirit of Chitrali culture. I am also always happy to cook together, share ideas about sustainable travel, and offer you a permanent invitation and a local guide for whenever you decide to visit the beautiful valleys of Pakistan!
My Interests
Though meeting and staying with your hosts will certainly be great, you’ll soon realize that the benefits of Couchsurfing go far beyond that. Adapting to different lifestyles, homes, cultures and traditions will make you both more sociable and flexible in your travels. This experience also will give you a completely different outlook on any country. By spending time with locals during your stay, chances are that you’ll experience more than many foreigners on their journey.
