CURRENT MISSION Editing my second book ABOUT ME World citizen. I started using Couchsurfing while in Japan (2008-2014). I am now back in Romania, where I work as a university lecturer, freelance interpreter, and translator. I love traveling, music, books, and red wine; I enjoy people and good food. I love trains and airplanes, the sea and the mountains, the strangers smiling when you cross paths with them, and I love the color green (forests and gardens are my thing). I don't smoke, and I don't eat meat. Main reasons: the environment and my well-being. PHILOSOPHY This chance you have, don't let it slip away. Embrace the world, the people, share love and happiness, and make it a better place. If we all struggle for it, someday IT WILL BE a better world.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I have hosted as many people as I could in my apartment in Japan (the longest visit was 6 weeks :), met a few Couchsurfers in town or while traveling. CS was a great opportunity to meet wonderful people, share and learn from their experiences, enjoy enlightening conversations, and experiment with food :) I hosted only a couple of people since returning to Romania, because my work schedule became overwhelming. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE surfed: Zdenek Lajbner (Okinawa) Darja Gabrjel (Ljubljana) Gaja Liu (Koper) Maria (Berlin) Anneke (Leipzig) Professor Maria (Athens) hosted: US: Sarah Spiegel, Kali Taylor Ventresca, Wylie Goodman, Alanna Mitchell Canada: Melvin Wong Australia: Patrick Ottery, Will Neal France: Nicolas Baldwin Spain: Mónica Blanco, Ed Horna Castiñeiras Romania: Anca Burducea, Georgiana Petria Slovenia: Sarah Robb, Gaja Liu Russia: Lisa Petrova and her friend Grunja China: Liu Yuan Czech Republic: Zdenek Lajbner Hungary: Daniel Kerek Japan: Shin Muramatsu
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: psychedelic sounds of the upper spheres My track list is full of Dylan, Nick Cave, Sting, blues, old rock and jazz, but I now tend to listen a lot more to some jazzy radio stations I discovered on my radio apps. Movies: In The Mood For Love; Nostalghia; Greenaway; Lars von Trier, Naomi Kawase etc. Books: Yoko Tawada, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Lolita (Nabokov), Wild Swans (Chang), Makura no soshi (Sei Shonagon), One Flew Over the Cockoo's Nest (Kesey), On the Road (Kerouac), Mein Name sei Gantenbein (Frisch), Malina (Bachmann), Die Blechtrommel (Grass), A Confederacy of Dunces (Toole), The Innocent Anthropologist (Barley), Cohen, Bukowski etc.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
every place I have traveled to has its own story, its fragrance and sounds that stay with me still but if I have to choose a couple of them, they would be : seeing the Danube Delta, one of the most beautiful places on Earth; walking 15 km on the Great Wall; seeing the terracotta soldiers and Sichuan masks; artifacts after reading about them in books (I'm a dork about this kind of stuff); traveling alone
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you something about all the languages I know, tell stories, share experiences. I also enjoy cooking, so join me in the kitchen and we'll bake some awesome cakes or even bread, prepare some exquisite dips and sauces etc.
My Interests
I started ballet as an adult and it has been my passion for the last six years.
