About Me

I grew up in a small mountain town in California. Anxious to get out, I moved across the States to New York City for college. After two years in New York, I was getting antsy to see the rest of the world, so I packed up my dorm and moved it to Madrid, where I've been studying since August. I'm working on my BA in Global Politics, Rights and Development and I'm double majoring in Spanish.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Europe is kinda expensive and I'm trying to see as much of it as possible. I'm looking for a good place to stay with good people; I think couchsurfing could give me a more authentic experience than staying in a hostel.

Interests

Music, politics, beer. Listening to music while talking about politics with a beer in my hand.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is kinda out there--My spotify playlists range from punk to hip-hop, classic rock to reggae, top 40 and country. My favorite music really depends on my mood. With summer setting in, I've been feeling beachy music like the Dirty Heads and Sublime.

I'm not a big movie person (an unpopular opinion, I know), but some of my all time favorites are definitely Grease, Slumdog Millionaire and more recently, Gone Girl.

I'm not sure I've found "my favorite book" yet. I spend a lot of time reading, but haven't read a book, immediately finished it and thought to myself, "wow, I need to read that again." Right now, I'm reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt, recently I've also enjoyed Burial Rites by Hannah Kent and 100 Years of Solitude.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm wrapping up the most amazing experience of my life right now; I picked up and moved to Spain for a year. Never having been to Europe before, and wanting to go somewhere where I could practice Spanish, I opted to take my studies to Madrid for a year. Right now, I'm at the point where I'm finally having the opportunity to reflect on what I've experienced and how I've grown since I've been here.
