ABOUT ME
Ida and Mads, 46. teacher and illustrator from Roskilde, Denmark. Ida teaches history, religion, music and danish language and litterature. Mads is also an art and english teacher, but has a background as an illustrator, doing comics and murals. www.totalbell.com
Mads writes a lot of songs, and together in our band we have made a couple of records. You can find Totalbell Band on Spotify, iTunes or places like that. Our kids Frank and Louis are 15 and 13 years old, and 9 years ago our youngest, Sonja, was born.
We live in a small village outside the city of Roskilde.
We´ve bought a house along with two other families, so we and our kids always have play mates. We eat together every week, and generally just help each other a lot in the busy everyday life.
We haven’t got a dedicated room for visitors, but we love to share our space and you will be using the room of one of our kids while staying here.
Notice!: You will be visiting a family with three kids, so be prepared for noice and quite a lot of mess, - but also lots of laughter and fun! Remember that our home is not a hotel! -We love to share, when we have the time and energy, but sometimes we are just exhausted, having jobs and kids, so be prepared to help out and take care of yourself.
UPDATE JULY 22
We just got back from 11 months of traveling with the kids. Primarily the US, Costa Rica and The Balkans.
Now in August we are all five if us going back to work and school, so hopefully we will find room in our schedule to host some of you guys too.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Primarily we host, but we have also been surfing couches in Turkey, Germany, Czech Republic, France and the US. We've met some interesting and cool people from all over the world this way.
When working we havent got the possibility to travel so much, so we try to invite the world into our house in stead. We are both busy people, but we try to host whenever we got the time.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Mads joined the cs community more than 17 years ago during the Angouleme comics festival in France.
The times we´ve used it in US, Germany, Czech Republic, France and Turkey, it´s been very good experiences - sweet people. We are amazed about how well it works. It´s such a great oportunity to meet new people - and a awesome way of traveling when you bring kids and don’t wanna be stuck in a motel room when they´re asleep.
We´ve hosted quite a lot of couchsurfers too - and so far only had good experiences!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We´ve both been around, seen lots of places....Loved Jerusalem, Istanbul and Havana, Holbox, Costa Rica, Sarajevo, Tirana and Tokyo, and definately wanna go back to the US. Seing the world with our kids has been the best thing ever.
Teach, Learn, Share
We receive quite a lot of requests from couch surfers, and that´s just great. We love to host, but we can´t however host everyone - and therefore we tend to choose to host the ones who write to us personally.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We try to bring joy and laughter, good discussions and a handful of open and curious minds.
Frank kicks ass playing guitar, Louis plays piano and Minecraft and knows all about bottleflipping, and Sonja will inevitably make you smile making strange faces.
