About Me

~~As i'm traveling for a while i'll unfortunately not be able to host anyone back in Görlitz. As soon as i am back, i`ll be happy to open my doors for you! ~~
------------------------------------------------

Hej everybody!

Since my father runs a travel agency the spirit of getting around, discovering, expanding the horizon and trying to understand the world a bit better was always an important part of my life.
Luckily i got the possibility to follow that wanderlust a lot - or better: i set the priorities in my life to be able to do so!

With time i realized that i really like the way of traveling by bicycle - so much that after a couple of shorter trips i realized a dream of myself in 2019 and cycled for one and a half years through europe, till the pandamic stopped me.
After that, the travel-hunger was still not satisfied, my girlfriend and i bought an old VW T4 (called Meloni), created a little, cozy home inside and started to hit the road again in July 2021... and there we are still going!

I`m strongly looking forward to all the meetings and experiences which we`ll have on this journey and we are extremly grateful about everyone who supports us thereby!

Best regards, your Maik ;)

------------------------------------------------------------
* extremly balanced
* vegan/vegetarian
* nonsmoker (except ganja, if it fits;))
* environmentalist (as good as possible on the way)
* animal friendly (had a small dog and two big cats before)
* left-liberal
* philanthropist (stronger with every time i`m traveling)
* minimalist (but could be better with that;))

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I dont need to deny - when i was in my early 20s couchsurfing was a fantastic way of saving some money while traveling... and still i believe its an important point of that plattform - although a lot of people will shout "CS is not for staying for free!". Of course it should not be JUST about that, but nevertheless it opens (travel) possibilties for those, who would not be able to travel arround and enjoy the beauty of the world as easy as we western europeans can do it.

Anyway, of course over the years the factor money become less important for me and the chances to dive deep into the local culture, learn about the homemade food, share stories and informations and get incredible interesting views "behind the curtain" became the reason, that i love that platform so much!

I had hosts all over the world and dont want to miss all this unforgetable times!

Interests

* Sports: soccer, volleyball, running, biking, hiking, skiing, bouldering, swimming etc...
* Borussia Dortmund (always was, will always be - no matter what)
* Traveling obviously (primary by bike) and discover other countries, cultures, people and landscapes
* Alternative nutritions and lifestyles
* Geopolitics
* Comedy (i like to laugh and my humor drives my girlfriend nuts)
* Christian values (although i`m not a christ;) - but still they are worth to strive for)

Music, Movies, and Books

Really not that much into films and music, although i enjoy both and have some favorites as well

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

* biking down Yungas Road in Bolivia
* camping in the mountains in bear territory
* sleeping on the roof of a caravansary in the middle of the desert
* sharing a lonely mountain hut spontenously with 20 wandering priests
* meeting people twice or more during our trips - by chance

There are a hundreds more, unfortunately my memory is pretty weak...
