About Me

Please read my home section before thinking of sending a request! :)

• I consist of cinema and minesweeper.
• If you know of any cool film or music festivals, let me know too!
•I do not drink (hot) coffee or (hot) tea. Don't be offended when I decline if you offer those.

I like hitchhiking and not knowing where I will end up. I like starting a trip with no plans. I like every day being a lottery of what kind of people I will meet and I like getting glimpses into their lives. I also love being alone, by CS standards I am very quiet and introverted. But my starting point in life was extreme anxiety and I couldn't have even dreamed of making as much progress as I have made. So, from my perspective I see the big change, and my introversion coming as a surprise to some is a bit of a tired topic for me. I may be different from the "typical" CSer, but that doesn't exclude me from loving the community and the adventure and the people :)

It's a shame to have to write this, but:

CS is not for finding a sexual partner. Do not contact me or accept my request if that's what you use it for. I won't entertain your "offers" and I will happily leave a truthful reference. Get your ass on a dating site ugh.

NO MEANS NO and saying it once should be enough!

I might be a bit cautious of recently made profiles because I have had multiple really unpleasant experiences with CSers with recently made profiles, who acted way out of line and then proceeded to block me and delete their accounts so I wouldn't be able to report them. And then made new accounts.

And after all these disclaimers: I love CS and if I have to deal with a few creeps to meet the lovely people, then so be it :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about it years ago when I was too young to surf but it never left my mind even though it sounded a bit scary. Then when I ended up alone in NYC without a place to stay I decided to give it a try and jumped head first into this unknown water - a really amazing decision. Thanks to CS I have made such huge steps towards being less afraid of people.

The best thing about travelling is going somewhere without plans and knowing that unknown events will find you and surprise you. I like the feeling of coming back home from a trip knowing new types of lives that I couldn't have imagined before. Couchsurfing often introduces stuff to do on your trip or at home that you wouldn't have found on your own. When there's no unknown event making itself known to me, I like to walk around looking at the buildings or sit on a bench looking at people. I don't make a good museum visitor and feel trapped if I need to visit too many places or see too many important spots in a day. (Although, when I'm alone I do sometimes make an exception for a museum here or there, when I can go at my own pace and leave the moment I get overwhelmed.)

It would be a dream to live in a big house with lots of space and be able to host many people from around the world at once. But sadly that's not the case yet. I used to host in Tallinn in a one room apartment in a building with a guard, where overnight guests weren't allowed. Now I live with my parents in Tartu and the situation is a bit more complicated.

Interests

CouchSurfing has the wonderful opportunity to list your interests/things you like. But I also feel the need to list my dislikes, to hopefully be able to avoid these things more easily!

DISLIKES:
Being touched
Cheek kisses are the worst
Tea. Coffee. Chai. Warm drinks in general
Museums. Tours (I can't pay attention)
Gender roles and expectations
One "no" not being enough
Having too many plans
Having to hurry through nice places
Popcorn cinemas
Planned surprises
Elevators. Tight spaces
Traffic safety not being taken seriously

Whenever I'm home I work in an art house cinema located in an old church. I love it there and I thank the cinema god for entering that retired church.

I used to listen to a lot of music but then I started listening to a podcast called 12 hour day with J.D. and Connor - it's a podcast where every episode is a 12 hour long conversation between two friends in NYC. After finding the podcast I stopped listening to music and for the past few years have been listening to those same conversations over and over and over again. They're my comfort conversations.

My other comfort and at this point defining aspect of my life is an app called Happy Color. The solution to all my problems is coloring paintings by numbers according to my own made up rules.
