Hey, I am Markella, after moving around Europe in the last few years I settled down in Edinburgh for my PhD in Evolutionary Biology.

I am mostly driven by curiosity and a deep love for learning! Would love to meet some cool people to hang out and explore Edinburgh & beyond!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CS because I'm always excited to meet people from different places around the globe and that's something I'd like to do more.
Moreover, I believe that in order to see a travel destination as it truly is, you have to live like a local!
It's time to be daring, see the world, build international friendships and gain new experiences! If not now, when?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

*Spent the night in a traditional Sami hut in the woods of Swedish Lapland! No heating or running water, we had to get water from a frozen river and cut wood on our own!
Run on snow barefoot straight from the sauna to see the Northern Lights!

* Walked on snow in the middle of summer, at a glacier in northern Italy.

I want to believe that the most amazing things are yet to come! :)
