About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Move to Berlin.

ABOUT ME

I like to think I'm always developing as a person. I'm very different to how I was 5 years ago, and I expect to be very different in 5 years time. In large part that's due to the variety of experiences I've had in the last 5 years which have come from different homes and different environments.

For example, four years ago I went vegetarian, six months later vegan, and three years ago I started learning web development. Now I'm a web developer at a vegan advocacy organisation. Five years ago I'm not sure I even knew what a vegan was, or what the difference between a web designer and a web developer was.

I think my key personality trait would be that I'm honest. Not too brutally honest though as I'm also reasonably polite. I'll say anything if I think it's funny though. Not that I'm claiming to be funny.

In one sense I'm a pessimist as I may see the negatives in a situation or thing, however in another respect I'm a optimist as I am only seeing negatives because I always believe that things can be better.

I've taken this question too seriously right?

PHILOSOPHY

Simply keep making progress. Life is never going to be perfect, but that doesn't mean that I can't continually make it better by pursuing perfection. This means always learning, always trying new things, meeting new people and having new experiences.

I want to live long enough until they invent immortality, because it's a big world and an infinite universe and it's going to take a while to do it all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started out hosting, but then had no own permanent home for a while and the surf to host balance has become a little skewed in favour of surfing. I promise I will rectify this soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Everything that has come through this network has resulted in nothing but great experiences so far and I'm not sure I can travel without this now.

Interests

I love sports, especially football.

I'm politically engaged and highly opinionated on most issues, but aware enough to know when to talk about these things and when to just smile and nod politely.

I like to laugh, so I follow a fair amount of stand-ups, cartoons, comedy shows as well.

Travel interests me obviously. Is that even worth saying on a couchsurfing profile?

Music, Movies, and Books

Trance. Most people say "I like X type of music, but really I like everything." For me, it's basically just trance and progressive house.

Prefer TV to movies. Putting all that effort into understanding a character to only spend 90 minutes with them? I'd prefer six seasons please. Must-watch active TV shows for me are South Park and It's Alway Sunny in Philadelphia. I really need something to replace Game of Thrones.

I read Alex Garland's 'The Beach' while in high school and reading it again while actually in Thailand, where the book is set, really highlighted to me how much I had changed.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going vegan and inspiring others to do the same is probably the most useful thing I've done or could do.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you how to build a website.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Everyone is always asking me to help them with their English. Not much use if you're a native speaker. I've worked for years as a writer though so I guess I could proofread your couchsurfing profile.
