I'm married to a great guy, James. We live in Houston, Texas. He's a home contractor, and a 2 time C.o.T.Y Award winner with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. He's pretty handy to have around! I'm a Registered Nurse (20+ years), I was born in Michigan and moved to Texas in 1976, Texas is home for me. My hobbies are my horses, I have 2, a Paint and an Appendix. The Appendix is a rescue and after a lot of patience and understanding with both of us, he now sees me as 'mom' and has begun to trust humans again. I love them both. And can talk about them for hours (fair warning!). I also enjoy creating stained glass. I have 2 grown sons and they are out on their own. I am part of a World Championship BBQ Team and we compete throughout the year and definitely look forward to October for The Jack and February for our Houston WCBBQ, when our friends from around the world get together and catch up!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to Couchsurfing. I learned about it from a friend while we were in Italy two weeks ago. We were traveling separately but for the same business (she's from Louisiana) and while she was saving a fortune on hotels and making new friends, I was spending a fortune on hotels, and not making new friends!
I like to explore 'off the beaten path' while I'm traveling, I've used AirBNB in the past and have had great experiences and met great people too. My friend shared with me that this is more of a 'home away from home' experience and so I signed up too!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is country or Christian Rock, I also listen to other music that my friends recommend or I find while traveling. I have two favorite movies, The Wizard of Oz and It's a Wonderful Life. The originals. I usually watch them in the winter for the nostalgia.
I spend a lot of time outdoors so I don't watch a lot of movies.
I like audio-books for the same reason. I spend a lot of times outdoors and can listen while I enjoy nature and also while driving.
Favorite book...The Secret.
