Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Masaharu — a marketer by profession, photographer by passion, and a curious traveler at heart. I live in Tokyo with my wife Tanya (originally from Russia) and our 8 yo son. We’re a warm, multilingual family who loves meeting people from all over the world and learning about different cultures.
We’ve lived abroad and know how valuable a local connection can be. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, we’d love to share a cup of tea, swap stories, or show you a few local spots if our schedule allows.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We’re open to the idea of long-term hosting again — even up to a year — but we want to be honest about what we’re looking for.
A friend I met through Couchsurfing once hosted me, and we later traveled together. Eventually, she stayed with us and became like an older sister to our son — playful, kind, and fun. She had her own job, wasn’t a nanny or au pair, but naturally fit into our family life. That experience showed us how valuable it can be to build deeper connections through Couchsurfing.
We're hoping to find something like that again, and here’s what would make us feel comfortable:
- You already live in Japan (so it’s easier to meet in person first)
- You have a job in Japan (so if things don’t work out, you’re independent)
- You’re a woman — this is a must, since my wife doesn’t feel comfortable otherwise
- You’re open to getting to know us first — either through meetups or short visits
