Overview
About Me
I'm forty something years old. I've been some places I've done some things. Bucket list has a few checks on it. I've swam with dolphins in the ocean and hand fed monkeys in the wild. When I'm home I'm an everyday Joe, working his ass off, I've always got some project around the yard, usually building something. I call it art. I look forward to the day I develop my land in Hawaii. But for the moment my business here supports my travels. So I work 6 months then I travel for 6 months. It's not a bad life. I enjoy hosting when I'm home and hearing your stories. It's keeps me motivated and young. I've now spent a couple Winters in Hawaii, Asia, Europe, Puerto Rico. I really do prefer island life. It makes my heart happy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My friends North of the boarder recommended the app. They know my love for travel and thought it would be a good fit for me. My trips primarily are into the woods, up a mountain or sleeping in my hammock on a beach. I've never had the interest in seeing the inside of a hotel room, I'd sooner sleep in a car. Now that I've hosted and surfed I truly understand what it's about and I really enjoy it. I've met some amazing people doing extraordinary things with their lives that I may have never crossed paths with otherwise.
Interests
Hiking, biking, snowboarding, boogie boarding, beaches and hammocks, the sound of the ocean, how I'd like to live near a mountain or an island in the sea, vegetables and growing them, I'm a gardener and an urban chicken farmer. My true passion is traveling. Travel cheap travel more, If you pack for it it'll happen and third and for most Never pass on a good opportunity.
Let's put these hotels out of business as a community.

Music, Movies, and Books
Not a huge reader but recently I've picked up a couple books I'm getting into. I don't really watch a lot of TV either. It can get ya through an MN winter but if I've got a choice I'd sooner be playing outside. Music on the other hand is a huge part of my life. Folk, Bluegrass, Reggae, Hip Hop. Minneapolis has a great local music scene and if you stay with me while in town it's likely going to be on the top of our to do list.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've sky dived a couple of times.
I completely 100 miles in a gravel bicycle race and finished 896th. One for the records!
I've hiked the Napali Coast in Kauai and I'm still dreaming of selling everything and moving to the island. 2014
After spending 5 months on the big island living in a hammock doing work trade I bought land a 3 acre parcel. That dream officially has a future. 2017
I remoded an old van and spent another 5 months in her traveling the SE 2018
I set out to do 460 miles of the PCT, completely only 120 of them but still a beautiful experience for this old man 2019
Teach, Learn, Share
Jack of all trades master of some. Full of statistics and useless information, capable of building a house, amateur carpenter, electrician and plumber. Woodworking I enjoy I could teach on sustainable living, gardening and canning your fruits. Need your bike tuned up? Maybe brewing beers if that interests ya. Ultra light backpacking is a also a fun topic.
