About Me

Based in Groningen :)

Hello there!

My name is Matze and I study to become a teacher. Currently, I am mostly based in Groningen, the Netherlands to complete an international education program but I often have international internships and continue to work all over the world.

After high school, I spent 3 years working, mostly in education and youthwork, around the globe. You can see where I've been and what I have done below because I've always used Couchsurfing and kept updating what I was currently doing.

I love this platform for its amazing community and all the great experiences I got to have because of connecting with so many wonderful people through here.

Obsessed with cooking, anything movement based and being outdoors but in general, am always up to trying all kinds of new things. I would describe myself as more of an opportunist, trying to make the best of what I'm given, contributing, and having the most positive impact I can whilst enjoying life. I hope I will meet you soon! :)

{March 2022} Currently back in Germany, in the states from the 4th of June onwards to work at a summer camp for underprivileged youth in Minnesota. Love openminded chats, and getting to know new people, views, and things. Looking forward to meeting you!

{February 2022} Volunteering at a pig sanctuary at the moment. Want to meet people, travel to see more parts of beautiful Ireland, and connect in my time off :)

{November 2021}I volunteer at a preschool with special needs kids in Cashel, Ireland. My project work will be over by February next year after which I would like to do something else in Ireland.
Until then I would just love to get to know some people from here, make some friends and simply have a good time as well as explore the country a little bit. I hope we meet soon!:)

{September 2020}Currently in Leipzig, Germany where I'm doing a voluntary service year. For that, I'm part of an aid organization (Malteser), teach first aid, conduct trainings, and take care of most of our youth work as well! :)

{August 2019}Hi! My name is Matthew, I'm 18 years old and finished my school education in Germany just a couple of months ago. Now I live in India, doing a voluntary service as an English teacher at an upper primary school.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To connect with locals and get a closer insight into what their lives, culture etc. are really like as well as sharing all kinds of things and learning with and from one another. Have a good time

Interests

I love any physical/movement activity and always try out new things. Cooking has always been one of my favorite activities and Iove it as well as eating!

Getting to know different cultures and learning languages (currently mostly focused on my Dutch, Spanish and French) is another one of my passions next to youthwork.

I adore connecting with new people and having conversations that can range from a wide variety of topics. Having moments that were shared with fellow beautiful human beings is something I cherish a lot and one of the reasons I embrace couchsurfing.
