CURRENT MISSION To bring an end to extreme poverty through microfinance ABOUT ME I got fed up with my role in the corporate world so I quit my job and p*ssed off with a backpack, deciding to spend my life-savings travelling the world instead. So far I've travelled in 32 countries, and counting!... I'm confident, happy and often slightly quirky. I can be mischievous, cheeky & fun when I want to be, and mature & professional when I need to be... A typical Aries, I'm passionate, idealistic, witty & spontaneous. Always honest, open & loyal. In my spare time I'm an Ambassador for an international microfinance organisation, aiming to bring an end to poverty in developing nations, and I completed a $60k fundraising trek in the Himalayas last September. I love: tranquil sunsets, the smell of rain before it arrives, walking in a forest & listening to the birdsong, cooking up a big pot of curry for my friends, playing games with my niece & nephews, drawing & painting, making music, and most of all meeting people from all different backgrounds... I'm travelling long-term, due to head home to Sydney in June 2011 (although not sure I'll be ready to go home then!). Haven't decided on my next move yet, I don't like to plan too far ahead. Maybe a WWOOF experience in South America... Visit my WV sponsored child in Guatemala?!... I guess you could say I'm a more earthy type - I've lived longterm around a campfire in a rainforest and don't mind getting a bit dirty or mucking in to help carry a heavy load. Definitely no princess! I'm interested in meeting like-minded people where-ever I go... Show me your city/town/farm! :) Oh and it seems some people are using this site like it's adult matchmaker, so no more emails offering your services for ''fun/intimate times'' thanks! PHILOSOPHY I guess I'd call myself an Omnist... (See http://omnism.com/om/home.htm) We are all one tribe...

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I'm not just looking for a free bed, but more interested in meeting people in the places I travel, to see those places through a local's eyes... I want more honest & authentic experiences than just being a sight-seeing tourist! I moved out of my apartment when I left Sydney, so everything I own is in storage. However, after my travels come to an end & I eventually have to go home to the "real world", I will happily offer my couch again (or even a spare bed if I can still afford one!), once I actually have one to offer! COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Have only surfed a few times so far, but always a very positive experience... Have attended a few CS events as well and have really enjoyed meeting like-minded people!
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Wide interests, but love good old-fashioned comedy like Monty Python, Pink Panther, Mel Brooks... Just hate crappy Hollywood blockbusters with no plot and expensive effects. An old fave is Into the Wild... Music: Jazz, Blues, Reggae, R&B, Soul, Latin, Funk, Classical, World, Old-School, New-School. Am a muso and can't live without it!! Hugely diverse taste but some faves include Lauryn Hill, India Arie, Sting, Parliament, Brand New Heavies, Stevie Wonder, Santana, Incognito. Books: A lot of metaphysical and personal development books over the years - and yes, some of the big sellers, but also some more obscure ones...
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Climbing a huge mountain in the Himalayas to raise funds for microfinance.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd like to learn Spanish one day...
My Interests
Um where do I start?!... In particular, I'm an Ambassador for a microfinance organisation so I'm especially interested in meeting people with contacts in that field. Camping, boating, cooking, gardening, arts, philosophy, astrology, photography, design & architecture, drawing, dinner parties, personal development, travel, anthropology, weekends away, outdoors (bushwalking, beach, snorkelling, etc)...
