About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning Spanish while reviving French and Italian - any help is appreciated and encouraged!

ABOUT ME

I'm originally and genetically from the south of Thailand but I was born and raised in the north. After that, I moved down to Bangkok for university and work. I've been living in this city for 8 years now although I have to admit that I still feel like a foreigner in my own city/country sometimes.

I'm a huge couch/mouse potato and I love comfort. I like comfortable clothes/shoes/surroundings most of the time when I'm just relaxing and not traveling. But I also love to have an adrenaline rush from outdoors activities such as paintball guns, cycling and trekking.

I'm also a bit of an introvert; I like to socialize but at the end of the day I'd just like to sit by myself, reading stuff on the internet and have a nice cup of tea. Speaking of which, I'm a huge tea lover and I like to collect all types of tea from different places.

In spring/summer of 2008 I participated in the Work and Travel in USA program during my university break and I got to work in a theme park called Jenkinson's Boardwalk on the Jersey Shore, Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey. It was a small, lovely town with awesome restaurants and fun rides. I lived, worked and traveled there for 3 months before coming back to Thailand to finish my degree.

In December 2011, I spent a few days in Singapore which was quite a lovely city though honestly a tiny bit too expensive to go backpack haha :P

I wish there were more countries I can enter visa-free with my Thai passport! It's one of the reasons why I haven't been to a lot of places yet, especially in Europe and America for which visa is quite difficult to get. But oh well, I'll make it there one day to visit some of the surfers I've met and hosted. Regardless, I'm still glad that most countries in South America grant visas on arrival! This is going to be my dream trip in just a few years to come! Now I just need to practice my Spanish and be prepared. :)

PHILOSOPHY

Sometimes it doesn't really take one to know one, the same way that you don't have to look for sharks to prove that they really bite :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A friend posted a link to this website on Facebook and I thought it was interesting so I signed up though hadn't been very active until recently. But now I've decided to stick around and make the best out of it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've had such great experiences meeting expats/travelers from CS and their friends also became mine after hanging out, so I think this is a really good start for me on this site.

Interests

I'm passionate about music, movies, books, languages, arts, geography, photography, psychology, astronomy, animals, western cultures, tea, etc.

I collect teas, postcards, bookmarks, toys including stuffed animals, keychains, etc. Some of the souvenirs were sent from other countries that I haven't even been to but I got them as gifts and/or favors from my friends. I also collect cute spoons, like those plastic ones from ice cream shops.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Got hugged by a baby elephant who was trying to steal a bottle of Coke in my hand (2 years old but quite a giant for a baby

2. Got bitten on the shoulder by a tiger cub while bottle-feeding them. Animals are awesome, especially those living freely in nature.

3. Partied with other couch surfers from dusk till dawn and joined a Tai-Chi session a group of elderly early birds before taking a ferry across the river to go home.

Teach, Learn, Share

I LOVE languages. Mostly the ones I've learned are western ones because I find them to be very fun to pronounce. They also give me the chance to learn more about the countries, people and cultures. So please don't be surprised (or annoyed lol) when you meet me and I keep asking you how to say things in your language(s) because it has become a habit of mine that I'm never going to quit :D Feel free to do the same thing :)
