Hi, I’m Melvin—a London-based hairdresser who loves exploring cultures, dancing (Scottish, French rock, ballroom), and learning languages like Spanish. I teach kids during summer school, follow a spiritual path, and believe in treating everyone (including animals) with kindness. I don’t smoke or party, and I help care for my parent. Into yoga, art, nature walks, food, and deep chats. I live in a quiet part of London—happy to host like-minded, respectful guests.

While traveling, I love to hike, play music, see art galleries and museums, learn the local culture and play some soccer if you are up for a game?

Traveling Wales in the UK now. When in England I’ll be visiting Portsmouth, Southampton, Brighton and the South West England. I would like to hike peaks in some UK national parks so if you are keen to go with me I’d love to know. I might move to Melbourne and hope to host again there before later on moving maybe to in the North Island of NZ.

I started travelling and hosting solo when I left home at age 17. I've hosted over 30 people (Spain, America/Hawaii, Vietnam, French, German, Aussie, etc.) I'm keen to host
again when I settle down to my own roots in a country. If you are going to my home town in India, I'll give suggestions on what to see and do or maybe recommend who to stay with in different areas.

The next country I did like
to visit is Spain for the Camino walk from France most probably. After Spain is Australia. after Places in Aus I would love to explore more is parts of inland central and north NSW, High country of VIC in summer, Flinders ranges SA, Esperance - Broome WA, QLD north of Cairns, NT Kimberley and south west TAS.

NOTE; I don't use couch surfing as tinder for backpackers. I won't sleep with a host or get naked for you and wont accept massages. Please mention "Yellow" so I know you read this.

My music is my passion & I am happy to share my music if you like. I like to do long distance cycling, see art galleries/museums, exercise/gym/yoga interested in magic and live comedy. I won’t be offended if you aren’t into music or photography/posing or hate hikes, bikes or art but I’m sure we can find a common interest.

I am not the best cook but I think I can follow a recipe and always willing to try help out how I can but sometimes I do not know the best way to support you so please let me know. I always try the local food when I travel. Although it can be hard to travel with food, I don’t expect you to feed me but I’m happy to share my food with you. If you have any house rules or chores I can assist with, please mention and I’ll be mindful to follow them. One thing that might help you understand about me especially in social interactions is I’m slightly aspergers IE. I am very focused on things so I can be distracted by something that really interests me, sometimes common or obvious gestures I don’t always pick up on, big social groups I’m not always sure the best way to handle. ADHD is different in males than females and it varies with different levels in people. Not many people realise it till they really get to know me or until I mention it but hopefully this doesn’t put you off from meeting me but will help you understand me better. I do feel embarrassed but this is part of who I am. Communicating with me in a relaxed vibe helps me understand things a bit better on what you would like or expect me to do.

I worry people will judge me or get more self conscious by my profession. I love hiking or going to art galleries when I’m not working in the city. Conceptual, emotive, underwater, figure work, old folk and classical renaissance images are my favourite type of art. I work full time therefore I can find it hard to reply to everyone but I keep in tabs with the application.

Other future places I want to go to- South Korea, East Timor, Australia.

Couchsurfing is a great way to connect with people and experience a place through the eyes of those who live there. I’m here because I love meeting travellers from around the world and sharing real cultural experiences—not just ticking off tourist spots.

During my first solo trip across the U.S., I had many unforgettable “firsts”—snow in Colorado, drag shows and pub gigs in Oregon, target shooting in Utah, and sharing a meal with a family of ten in Salt Lake City. I’m still in touch with some of them!

I did love to see a few places in the world and I want to really get to know what it's like living in different places. What better way than to share this experience with a local? For me, travel is about people, not just places. Couchsurfing lets me be part of local life, and I’m always grateful for the memories and friendships it bring. I think it is exciting to meet unknown people, share a space in their homes and learn about their culture.

I am into music, nature, films, poetry, biking, drawing, and a good glass of whiskey now and then. I enjoy yoga, writing, dancing, and getting lost in new places. I love learning about different cuisines and cultures, and I’m always up for a deep conversation—whether it’s about history, cooking, or the stars. At heart, hairstyling and ballroom dancing are my biggest passions.

Books: I enjoy spiritual and philosophical reads like Advaita, and I like the raw writing style of Charles Bukowski. I don’t read often, but when I do, it’s usually non-fiction.

Movies: Big fan of Hitchcock, Kubrick, Miyazaki, and anything with vampires or a good horror twist. I also love classic Hollywood and rhythm-based dance films.

Music: I vibe with jazz, chillout, lounge, house, electro-mix, salsa, and hip-hop—anything with soul and rhythm.

I studied commerce, hair design, and makeup, but at heart, I’m an artist working through hairdressing.

One of the most amazing things I’ve done is a solo trip across 15 states in the USA—it was life-changing. I also recently explored Scotland, the Midlands, and Wales, which brought new inspiration. I’m currently working on a memoir called "Beyond the Mirror" about my childhood and travel experiences.

I’ve been a hairstylist and makeup artist for over 12 years, so I’d be happy to share some good styling tips. I can also share insights about India—I’ve worked across different cities in the West and South, and every state has its own unique culture, food, and style. If you're planning to travel there, I can definitely offer some helpful tips!

At the moment, I live in a shared home, so I can't host overnight guests—but I'm happy to meet up! If you're ever my guest in the future, I can offer beauty and wellness advice, good conversation, a warm meal, and plenty of laughs.
When I do host, you’ll have clean sheets, towels, soap, maybe even a hairdryer and spare clothes (if they fit!). I have a spare key, so you can come and go as you like.

House rules:
Please no smoking, no mess, and absolutely no violence.
Be kind to everyone in the house, respect the space, and most of all—feel at home.
You're welcome to join in for board games, chats, shared stories, and some hugs if you're the cuddly type!
Just look after yourself and keep things clean and respectful.
