About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Economy Class World Traveller

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. I lived in the U.S for 4 years while getting my Bachelor's degree at Lafayette College,in Easton Pennsylvania. I have spent a semester studying abroad in Bremen, Germany. I have been to Amsterdam,Brussels,Northern Part of Germany, St.Petersburg and Macedonia. My favorite city of all was Berlin, with its history and diverse population.

Currently I am working on my Master's degree in Germany. I have been here for almost 2 years, and I just moved to Düsseldorf for my thesis.

PHILOSOPHY

Tabula Rasa

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new in Düsseldorf, and looking forward to meeting new people. One of the biggest reasons I moved here was because I know it is an international city, containing cultures of many different nations. I already discovered the Japanese neighborhood and spend quite a lot of time there to learn more about their culture-especially the food. I am sure there are many more things to do in the city, so it would be nice to have some companions!

I like traveling a lot. I think that traveling is a lifestyle and I saw that it is actually a culture. While traveling around Europe, I have met tens of new people in hostels and their stories have actually changed the way I look at life. Since I am studying in a small school, I don't get to travel a lot. Therefore, I see the breaks we have as great opportunities to see new cities in the U.S. and learn more about the American lifestyle. I think couchsurfing is the best way to do it since all the people in the network are willing to know about the people they host.

Interests

Music is central in my life. I hate the questions "what is your favorite?" and "what do you listen to the most?", because I listen to anything! Especially interested in the ethnic music, and I hosted a radio show for a year in the U.S. with a friend of mine. The show targeted to introduce the people to the world music, and I think it encouraged many people to explore more.

I have been playing the classical guitar for more than seven years. I also play the drumset and the bass guitar. I watch soccer almost everyday and support Beşiktaş from Turkey. I also play soccer and basketball regularly and I have been a part of my school's rowing team for three years.
