Hey, I’m Mike—but most people on the internet know me as “Backpacker Mike on a Bike.” I’m currently riding my bicycle across America, one pedal stroke and campsite at a time. No van, no support car—just me, my tent, and a heavy bike and trailer loaded with everything I need (and probably too many things I don’t).

I quit my job, sold my car, and decided to see what happens when you stop following the usual path and follow curiosity instead. I live for hidden gems, unexpected conversations, and places that don’t show up on tourist maps. Whether it’s camping under a tree by the beach or biking through national parks, or couchsurfing with strangers-turned-friends, this journey is about connection, stories, and doing something that excites me—even if it makes no sense on paper.

I’m also a creative—I make some YouTube videos documenting the journey (bonus if you’re okay to be featured in my videos!). I have a few music projects under the name Mic-Keys (easily find on YouTube and TikTok). I believe laughter and good storytelling can fix most things.

If you’re hosting, I’ll be respectful of your space, clean up after myself, and probably have a wild travel story or three to swap. I might even cook you a “Backpacker Special” meal (5 pieces of beef jerky, instant noodles and peanut butter).
