My name is Adila and I am originally from Malaysia. I am a full-time human rights volunteer. You can find out more about me on www.chrysalism.net I am pretty laid-back, though you can see me dreaming here and there sometimes. I can be introverted, but I talk a lot with people once I like them. I'm not the type of person to demand a lot of comfort, I don't mind the heat or the cold. Sleeping is a skill, so I can do it anywhere: train stations, bridges, under a waterfall, in a detention center. I travel with a hammock, and I try to get into it whenever the chance arises. Generally I like to travel on my own, although I prefer hitchhiking with a good partner. I can be careless at times, which made me realize how completely dependent I can be on the kindness of strangers. I'm shy at first, but I can be silly if I get comfortable. Please watch out if I dance. PHILOSOPHY Just because you can't dance doesn't mean you shouldn't dance. (Also applies to making music) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bms3nA3iDfo

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I connect with people and I tend to trust strangers at first sight. I work a lot with people, and for that I think it is important to maintain contact, connection and relations with strangers and friends alike. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Positive, although everytime I meet someone amazing they're either forced to leave or I'm forced to leave. :(
Music, Movies, and Books
Jarabe de Palo, Chico Trujillo, Pablo Neruda, Man's Search For Meaning.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
2016: I worked as a lawyer representing refugees in Malaysia. 2014-2015: I worked as a human rights international accompanier/observer in a peace community in North Colombia. 2015: I almost drowned my captain on his sailboat in the Colombian coast. 2012: I spent 11 days in a detention centre, made a lot of friends and ended up opening a class on "Refugee Rights" during my time there; it was the first time I really felt that my studies could impact individuals in a concrete way. 2013: My first mountain hike in Nujiang valley, China where I got to 4200m altitude. Although later I got lost twice during mountain hikes; first time it happened I had to sleep in a pig sty; the second time it happened, I almost died falling towards a waterfall and had to sleep there. 2012: I went to the World Amateur Snooker Championship in Bulgaria. I didn't make it too far, but it was a great experience in the sport I love. (:
Teach, Learn, Share
Please don't expect too much, I go by the "anything-goes" school of thought. I am somewhat clueless when it comes to system and order, and my sensory experiences can be somewhat different than others. I can teach people how to cook as long as you don't try to make me read a recipe. Caveat: I am a big improviser (say if there´s no milk, I'd go ahead and use a banana). I can possibly make arts, but it will be lopsided. I am not the most musically gifted, but I have a guitar which I like to use to write poems, explore emotions or meditate with. Also, I like snooker (:
What I Can Share With Hosts
