About Me

ABOUT ME

Miki: I am a backpacker trying to discover every country on my own. However usually I have only limited time to spend at a place, which inhibits me to go deep enough to understand the culture and find hidden gems. So this is the point when couchsurfing community helps a lot.

Nowadays my wanderlust is more and more diverted to mountainous regions or depths of the oceans. If I have the opportunity I take my SCUBA gear climbing shoes/skis to explore new horizons.

Orsi: I love travelling, getting to destinations that surprise me. I usually start learning about culture through it's gastronomy so really appreciate if you can show me around in your kitchen :) Apart from that, I also like wine and furry mammals of all size.

PHILOSOPHY

Miki: Leave your comfort zone to face your real self. Orsi: Eat, love, live!

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have been living in Budapest for 10/28 years now so can recommend some good places to hang out, and help you to find the activities that suit you the best.

Our surfers are usually curious about the local cuisine and Hungarian fast food, so here is a brief summary of it: http://nickhilditch.com/magyarfood/

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Please do not send us a couch request if you do not have any previous CS experience or references.

This might sound exclusive but we experienced that we get along much better with surfers who know how to deal with the situation that involves lot of trust, giving, accepting and living together.

We also gathered first some experience by hosting and started surfing later...

Interests

Environmental issues, SCUBA diving - marine biology Psychedelic trance Positive psychology Alpine sports (Rock climbing, freeride skiing, traditional mountaineering) Gastronomy

Music, Movies & Books

Basically everything from Irvine Welsh, Aldous Huxley. I am also a great fan of the Introducing... series.

More generally I like the SF and Cyberpunk genre and really interested in Natural Sciences.

Orsi likes the big classics, like Tolstoy and the french realists. Totally into Ayn Rand currently!

Sometimes we visit psychedelic trance parties.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Miki: Ad hoc night freeride skiing with headlights after a long summit attempt to the Schrankogel.

Orsi: hugging a koala, diving at the great barrier reef, surviving in old-Delhi during Diwali :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to teach how to prepare couple of Hungarian dishes or the very basics of rock climbing.

I have a didgeridoo but my playing skills are rudimentary so I would be happy if someone could teach me a bit :)

Orsi has a terrible voice but loves singing with others and also plays the piano (a bit). Can also show you how to jut out your thumb (reversible).

What I Can Share With Hosts

Warm welcome, Hungarian wines, good conversations and a base camp to discover Budapest.
