About Me
Hello! I'm a traveling tutor trying to figure out what I want to do with my career, and enjoying myself until I figure it out! I just finished a year and a half of traveling around Central and South America, and now I'm checking out Europe for a while until I settle back in in the US. Who knows- maybe I'll fall in love with a country/city and stay! I am an artist, a social scientist, and an activist, and I love learning from the people I meet in my travels as they further develop my understanding of human nature. There's so much to learn!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have learned that when I stay at hostels I always do what I was planning on doing on my itinerary. There is some value in that, but the things I've seen, people I've met, and places I've been because of couch surfing are FAR more valuable than the classic trip advisor schedule. I think that one of the best ways to fully understand a culture and a people is to see how they live, which you just don't see from a hostel. Couchsurfing started out as a way to travel economically while meeting locals, but it has completely changed for me, in that now I travel to do couchsurfing, not the other way around.
Interests
I'm an artist in all of its forms except that my participation is music is from a place of non-participatory appreciation. Everything else is fair game! I write, paint, sculpt, act, and dance. I'm also active in sports and I love hiking etc. in the great outdoors. I am an intersectional feminist which basically means that the way I see feminism is not separated from all of the other isms (classism, racism, ableism, etc.). I'm going on 2 years of travel now, so I guess you could say travel is one of my interests, though I think that's a given being on this site!
