About Me

Hey there!
I’m Mohamed (or Omran, if you prefer), an easygoing explorer based in Shubra-Al-Khaimah City, Egypt. I love connecting with people from all walks of life and sharing experiences that go beyond the usual touristy routes. Whether it’s wandering through the streets of Cairo, discussing deep philosophical ideas, or just cracking jokes over a meal, I’m always up for good conversations and new perspectives.

I have a deep curiosity about the world, especially when it comes to history, psychology, and human nature. My friends say I have a way of turning any conversation into a memorable one—sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes hilarious, but always engaging.

When I’m not showing travelers around or exchanging stories over coffee, you’ll probably find me free diving, reading about crime stories, or working on my career shift into data analysis. I also love a good road trip, and I’m always up for spontaneous adventures.

If you’re looking for someone to help you experience Egypt beyond the surface, share some laughs, or even just chat about life, feel free to reach out!

Looking forward to meeting fellow travelers and making lifelong friendships. Cheers!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, traveling isn’t just about places—it’s about people. I believe the best way to experience a place is through the eyes of those who call it home, and Couchsurfing is the perfect way to make that happen.

I love meeting travelers, exchanging stories, and offering a glimpse into real Egyptian life beyond the tourist spots. Whether it’s sharing a meal, exploring hidden corners of Cairo, or diving into deep conversations about history, psychology, or life itself, I enjoy connecting with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Hosting and hanging out with travelers isn’t just about showing them around—it’s about learning from each other, gaining new perspectives, and building friendships that go beyond borders. Some of my best memories have come from these spontaneous meetups, and I’m always excited for the next adventure.

If you’re looking for a local who’s passionate about culture, good conversations, and a bit of humor along the way, I’d be happy to meet up!

Interests

I’m someone who thrives on curiosity and exploration, whether it’s diving deep—literally, through my passion for free diving—or figuratively, through thought-provoking conversations and new experiences.

I have a deep love for history, psychology, and human nature, and I can spend hours discussing anything from ancient civilizations to the complexities of the mind. Crime stories and thrillers also fascinate me, which is probably why I enjoy writing crime novels and screenplays in my free time.

Traveling and meeting new people keep me inspired. I enjoy discovering hidden gems in my own city and helping others experience Egypt in a more authentic way. Good food is always part of the journey, and I have a soft spot for Italian cuisine.

When I’m not out exploring, I’m either at the gym working on my fitness goals, practicing my English speaking skills, or diving into the world of data analysis as I work towards my career shift.

I believe that life is best lived through meaningful experiences, great conversations, and shared laughter—so if you’re up for any of that, we’ll probably get along just fine!

Music, Movies, and Books

🎵 Music:
I enjoy a mix of genres depending on my mood—whether it’s something upbeat to keep me energized or something deep and soulful to get lost in. I appreciate music that tells a story or evokes strong emotions, and I’m always open to discovering new sounds from different cultures.

🎬 Movies & TV Shows:
I love movies and TV shows that keep me thinking long after they’re over. Prison Break and Dexter are two of my favorites—something about clever storytelling, suspense, and complex characters always grabs my attention. I also enjoy psychological thrillers, crime dramas, and anything that dives into the human mind.

📚 Books:
I’m fascinated by books that explore psychology, human behavior, and personal growth. Atomic Habits is a recent favorite, as I’m always looking for ways to improve and stay consistent in what I do. I also enjoy crime novels, thrillers, and anything that makes me see the world from a different perspective.

If you have a great book, movie, or song recommendation, I’m always up for discovering something new!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most incredible experiences of my life has been free diving at the Blue Hole. There’s something surreal about diving deep into the unknown, feeling completely weightless, and disconnecting from everything above the surface. It’s not just about holding my breath—it’s about pushing my limits, embracing the silence, and experiencing a level of peace that’s hard to find anywhere else.

Beyond that, I’d say another amazing thing is the connections I’ve built with people from around the world. Some of my best memories come from spontaneous meetups with travelers—whether it’s watching the sunset over Cairo, sharing deep conversations about life, or just laughing over a meal. Seeing the world through different perspectives and forming friendships across cultures is something I truly cherish.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I love sharing what I know, whether it’s helping someone experience the real Egypt beyond the tourist spots, diving into deep discussions about psychology and human nature, or even teaching a bit of Excel and data analysis (as I’m currently transitioning into this field). If you're interested in medical billing or understanding how the system works, I’ve got plenty of insights to share from my experience. And of course, if you're curious about free diving, I can talk about that for hours!

Learn:
I’m always eager to learn—whether it’s a new language, a different perspective on life, or a hidden historical fact about a place I thought I knew. I enjoy learning from other travelers’ experiences, hearing about their cultures, and picking up new skills along the way. If you have something interesting to teach, I’m all ears!

Share:
I love sharing great conversations, good food, and unforgettable experiences. Whether it’s a walk through Cairo’s hidden gems, a discussion about crime novels and thrillers, or just a few laughs over coffee, I believe the best moments in life are the ones we share with others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe every meetup is an opportunity to exchange something valuable, whether it’s knowledge, stories, or just good company. Here’s what I can bring to the table:

Great Conversations: I can talk about almost anything—history, psychology, crime stories, human behavior, or just life in general. Whether it’s deep philosophical discussions or hilarious travel stories, I enjoy making every conversation meaningful and fun.
A Local’s Perspective: If you’re interested in experiencing Egypt beyond the typical tourist attractions, I’d love to share insights about the local culture, hidden gems, and the best spots to eat and explore.
Cultural Exchange: I can teach you about Egyptian traditions, a few Arabic phrases, and maybe even how to negotiate like a local in Cairo’s bustling markets.
Help & Guidance: Whether it’s helping you plan your itinerary, recommending the best food spots, or just making sure you don’t fall into tourist traps, I’ll do my best to make your stay easier and more enjoyable.
A Good Time: Whether it’s watching a movie, sharing a meal, or just laughing over random topics, I always try to make sure we create a memorable experience together.
Looking forward to meeting new people, sharing good times, and building connections that last beyond just a stay!
