ABOUT ME
Just got back from an epic 3 year trip that included India, Nepal, Bhutan, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Patagonia (twice), Peru, Bolivia and Colombia (best Couchsurfing story ever!) Heading South again! I live here with my Colombian partner Camila.
When I’m here in the US, come visit on the way to and from Alaska/Canada as I live a mile from the Alaska Ferry. I have renovated my cool space and have plenty of room. Amazing garden, solar panel array, rainwater catchment system, cob oven. Just off Chuckanut Dr. so good for bikers! I have kayaks and you can walk them down to the bay to paddle in 5 minutes at high tide. I have a crab pot too so in July there’s crabbing!
I love having visitors and when I do, I treat them well, especially those from other countries. Please do me a favor and give some advance notice. You will enjoy my tranquil (yet fun!) abode.
I have finished my grad degree in Energy, Environment and Society in 2010. My interest is in microfinance and rural green energy in developing countries. I took half my 30's off for travel and school. My how time flies. My heart will always be in the Himalayas, but The Lost Coast in Humboldt is up there. Now I am exploring the real Northwest when here.
You can see my buddy Namche in the pics. She is gone now and my life will never be the same...Don't know why it still hurts so much. I love dogs as visitors!
I play the harmonica and am slowly improving. Learning guitar. Hoping to hook up with more here in Bellingham. If you are decent at the guitar, especially the blues, I can play along.
PHILOSOPHY
Searching, searching, searching. Connections, relationships, seeking joy. Golden Rule.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I moved here in early 2012. My first traveling was before the internet so I was a couch surfer back then and still now. Love meeting new people, especially travelers. It educates me. I have met some great surfers. Including my partner.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Great visitors! I’ve surfed a bit too finally! Met the love of my life!
Interests
Everything but most governments. Living happily, showing compassion and trusting oneself. Figuring out a way to make myself more useful to the planet. I have a learned a ton but want to put it to good use.

Music, Movies, and Books
Name it and I have probably not read it yet. Although I am quite a fan of Eckardt Tolle. I am an old school music lover but always open to new. I have a pretty open mind but am still an Ohio boy at heart.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekking in the Himalayas over 15 times. Four total solar eclipses!! Sunset over Everest on my b-day with full moonrise over Katchenjunga. Stunning. King Peak at sunset with the fog rolling in. Bellingham Bay with full moon over Mt. Baker. Grand Canyon six times. Full moon from Yellow Aster Butte with Mt. Baker and all the Cascades as my living room. Shipping my van (twice) to Patagonia! Okay that is more than one!
11 1/2 of the best years of my life traveling and exploring with my late best friend, Namche the wonderdog. From the Arctic Circle to the tip of Baja, she was my companion. I miss her terribly.
