About Me
اهلا وسهلا,انا ناتالي ♡
I'm Nat. I love fountain pens, smooth ink and nice paper, making dioramas and stop-motion animations, languages, food and contemporary art. I'm attracted to urban decay, dilapidated buildings and rusty old aircon units.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I feel like the more people I meet, the less I know. And I like being negated as in my teens to early 20s I was ignorant and sheltered. Challenging my own perception of the 'ideal' or 'appropriate' happens naturally through meeting people whose lives and experiences are wildly different than my own; CouchSurfing is really the perfect place to do this intentionally.
Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy a mix of Arabic, Hindi and English. I'm open to almost all music. I love Yaya Bey, Mohamed Abdo, Ziad Rahbani, Erykah Badu, Andre 3000/Outkast, lofi Hindi and soundtracks from Bollywood films.
I love hearing from Terrence McKenna and Ram Dass.
Nietzsche's 'Why I Am So Clever' is one of my favourite books. It made me laugh (only after the third read, lol), taught me to annotate and required me to consult a dictionary more times in that text than I have in my life. Worth it, though.
I'm currently enjoying Fullmetal Alchemist on Webtoons.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent 2 years teaching an endearing, intelligent cohort of children in a small rice field village in Cambodia. It was the best experience of my life and perhaps the most intense and difficult. Though this experience was in my early 30s, they were very formative years. To be a teacher really means to be a student and I miss learning from them every day.
Teach, Learn, Share
We can make a stop motion animation together, that would be the most fun. Do you have any creative ideas? We can bring them to life.
