About Me

I'm a curious, high-energy adventurer who is always up for a good conversation. I enjoy meeting people of all shapes, colors and sizes, and have a habit of talking to strangers. I am a freelance graphic/user experience/web designer and artist. I’m born and raised in California, and have been living in San Francisco for the last 8 years. I’m currently traveling with my husband, and am looking forward to meeting new friends—both locals and other travelers—in the places I visit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to cook and am very generous. I like to make crafts for people and am an easy surfer who can sleep anywhere- a hard floor or a hammock will do! When I get back I plan to host other surfers when they come to my area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love couchsurfing because it makes me feel like i really KNOW a place that i visit Now I can say I have friends from all over Turkey, and eastern europe. FRIENDS- people I jammed with on guitar, ended up hitch-hiking with around foreign countries, ate home-made dinner on the floor together with their families, climbed mountains with, and tried desperately to communicate though we both hardly spoke eachothers' languages. I was introduced to to the "only bar" in very conservative Kurdish cities and have been taken to Kurdish weddings (one of which I was politely asked to stop dancing because i was shaking my hips too much!) I have learned so much foreign music and even gotten my hair cut for free by a CS host's sister who misunderstood my terrible turkish and cut off six inches instead of one. The feeling of arriving in a strange place you've never been and knowing you'll be greeted by a future friend is very comforting and makes you feel like you're not alone even though you ultimately are traversing the world by yourself.

Music, Movies, and Books

Led Zeppelin, Sublime, Pixies, 90s pop music. Going to live shows in SF or anywhere I travel. Favorite books: The Stranger, Catcher in the Rye, The Phantom Tolbooth, The Giver.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Biked across Wisconsin with my family (500 km), sleeping in tents on high school fields. Nothing feels better than lying on the grass after five hours of biking. and the conversations you have when whizzing past fields of green with cows grazing and lakes twinkling behind it all are the best you can possibly have.

Teach, Learn, Share

the open minded and light hearted.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, advise about anything artistic or design related, listening to anything they want want or need to talk about, a walking buddy, and i can make them a pretty delicious cocktail (as long as I know where to find the ingredients.
