ABOUT ME

I am quite practical, responsible, and am a down-to-earth person, but I am also a free spirit and get very animated when I get excited. I will climb a tree, moo at cows, or pet a bumble bee without a second thought. I lick my plate after a delicious meal, regardless where I am at. Enjoying life to the fullest.

When in my hometown, my activities vary quite a bit: chilling out at home so I can wake up early the next day to go to Muay Thai. Going to (or helping organize) an interactive underground art event (shhh!) or urban street games. Playing boardgames with friends. Making something, usually art, something creative, or experimenting with food. Taking a walk at night with no destination. Working at home on my new business. Practicing the musical saw. At a happy hour meet-up with friends. On the road heading out of town to camp/hike/explore the world. Swinging on a swingset under the silver moonlight. But when I travel, I am up to any activity, in the hopes of finding adventure and joy....

I also should mention that I LOVE martial arts! I have been doing Muay Thai kickboxing for upwards of 8 years. I also just recently started learning BJJ and am totally digging it, but Muay Thai will still be number one in my heart.

Despite living in the city where Couchsurfing started, I only joined recently. (Late to the party, I know!) I've had the pleasure of meeting some great hosts these past few months, and once my travel bug settles down, I look forward to hosting people in my home as well. :)

Music: I'm kinda eclectic, and not really a music nut…I tend to find new music interests through my audiophile friends. Music currently making frequent rotation off my devices: Parov Stelar, Mike Doughty, Coil, The Decemberists, Firewater, Cop Shoot Cop, Gotan Project, Amanda Palmer, The Andrew Sisters, Front Line Assembly, Mum, Amon Tobin, M. Food & Drink: I love going out to cheap-and-yummy restaurants of various cuisines. I enjoy experimenting with creating new meals at home. It's not gourmet by any means, but it sure is tasty, if I do say so myself.

Riding through Death Valley on a motorcycle, during the biggest Spring flower bloom in decades. The colors on this usually dead landscape were astonishing, and I was overwhelmed by the pungently sweet smell of millions of flowers in bloom, as I sped down the desert road, wind whipping through me.
