MOSTLY NOT HOSTING AT THE MOMENT but you can send a last minute request and ask. Please don't bother making a long elaborate request because most probably I have to decline it: a oneliner is fine but please be exact with dates. Don't request more than 2 days before.
I live close to Helsinki city centre. You can reach most places of interest in the centre by foot without using public transport. Most passenger ports are 2–3 km away. For more exact location, look for "Hernesaarenkatu" (my home street) in your favourite map application.
Late arrivals and early departures are fine, even in the middle of the night.
Sometimes I also host on Tenerife, Canary Islands (as you can probably notice if you read my references), but at the moment I am in Helsinki.
I host a lot but I also get a lot of requests (particularly in the summer). Hence, I also have to decline many, sometimes most. Don't hesitate sending a request but you shouldn't bother making it too personalised as some hosts wish: just the dates and whether you will come alone or with somebody is fine. I can read the rest from your profile.
Also, I understand very well that when travelling, sometimes plans change. If you have to cancel or change dates, that's fine (but of course: date change depends on whether I am available). Just keep me updated.
When I have time, I am open for a walk or day hike, for a beer in a pub or at home, for a public sauna, for cooking together or dining out, for a conversation over a cup of tea, or whatever. But I am also fine with guests who have their own day program and just need a place to stay overnight.
My home is just one room and it is not big but I have a bed for guests. I have sometimes a dog or two here - and if not, at least there is dog hair somewhere. I hope you are not allergic to or afraid of dogs.
I don't usually know my schedule for long time in advance and hence I prefer requests just one or few days before arrival. I sometimes accept last minute requests from couch request groups such as Helsinki-Vantaa-Espoo Emergency Couch Request (you find those at the CS website, not in the app).
I am Christian (Lutheran) but guests can be of any denomination or religion or of none at all. I will not proselytize and I hope that you will neither.
LGBTQ+ people welcome: I may not be up to date with all the vocabulary but I am friendly to everybody.
Sometimes I have a dog here (I don't have my own dog but I sometimes take care of my neighbours' or friends' dogs). Also couchsurfers travelling with dogs (or cats) are welcome (I have had a few already).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I mostly host. Particularly I like returning guests. Hence, if you have stayed with me before you are the most welcome again.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have hosted 400+ guests, mostly here in CouchSurfing.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you get hosted by me you might end up in my Instagram @nlipsane. I use it mostly as a guestbook to remember whom I have hosted or met. I hope that you don't mind.
Tea is always available, and maybe something with it. We can cook together, if you wish. There are also a plenty of restaurants nearby but most of them quite expensive.
If we cook together, I eat almost anything but not mushrooms or mustard. Also, I don't like very cheesy foods. I eat meat but not every day so vegetarian/vegan cooking is good too.
I have a wi-fi at home.
