About Me

Currently finishing up grad school in chemistry in Nebraska, moving to Boston for a postdoc at end of September! Love science obviously, also politics, history, traveling, coffee, riding the occasional bike, volcanoes, whales and dolphins and stuff. There are actually very few things in life I don't like. "I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well I'm moving to the Boston/Cambridge area @ the end of September for a postdoc at MIT, looking to explore the area and possibly meet some companions along the way! and to maybe even crash on a couch or two. Also love traveling out of country whenever possible, so would be awesome to meet up with cool people, and maybe even crash on a few couches?

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like pretty much everything except for modern country and Christian rock, but favs include: bob Dylan, the doors, m ward, arcade fire, delta spirit, grateful dead, the felice brothers, my morning jacket, icky blossoms, animal collective, bon iver, ben Howard, first aid kit, bright eyes, lucius, neva dinova, vetiver, the velvet underground, Lou reed, Neil young, radiohead, immortal technique, hozier,

Book favs: brave new world, a people's history of the United States, various Noam Chomsky books, 1984,

Movies: many documentaries, but all time favorite is a movie called Brazil.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One early morn I found myself in Antigua, Guatemala; I didn't know a lot of Spanish at the time but very overconfident. We were trying to actually leave Antigua, and I thought I had just scored a sweet deal on some bus tickets to El Salvador. Little did I know I had just signed us up on a 2 day hike to climb a mountain (act the 3rd tallest in Central America). Well, "when in Rome". To put it lightly, it was sort of a bloodbath getting up the thing, but when we finally did we had a perfect cloudless view of Fuego, an active volcano that erupts every 30 minutes. My companions said I should learn Spanish better afterwards though.

Teach, Learn, Share

You wanna know about some science? Teach me about anything else, I'm ALL ears

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well I won't lie and say I'm a master chef, but I can cook up a mean batch of pasta! Also always down for a convo, or really anything at all

Countries I’ve Visited
