About Me

Hello, my name is Nora.
Before I tell you more about myself, I would like to mention that I am currently not accepting guests as I have been travelling for the last 3 years and am not based in a country for the time being (I am also new to Couchsurfing). As soon as I settle down somewhere, I would gladly return the favour and accept guests 😊

About me:
I started backpacking 10 years ago. Every year, on my holiday I would go and explore (South America, South East Asia, Europe, Africa). The going back to work part always made me feel like life cannot just be that: free time 6 weeks and work 46 weeks. I didn’t find it was balanced. There was definitely a feeling of frustration that appeared when I got back from my travels, and that disappeared after the routine kicked back in.
And then, finally, in 2022, at the age of 42, I took the decision to quit my job and my apartment to go travel. Full time. Best decision ever!!! Also got my old job back that I do part time now, a few hours a day.
My favorite part of travelling is the excitement you get when you arrive in a new country, a new town, the smell, the air, the food, everything feels and tastes new. I truly feel everything is possible.
I walk a lot, and like to hike, being in nature allows me to reconnect to myself and to nature. Big fan of food, and being a vegetarian (6 years now) is sometimes challenging depending on the countries you go to :) but where there is a will, there is a way ... to vegetarian options :) however, I have decided to change to a pescatarian diet during my latest travels. I am the only one in my family to be a traveler, I have one younger brother and one younger sister, I love animals, I am kind, caring, clean, and if possible I would love to go off the beaten track and visit lesser known places to experience travel differently, go where locals go, and eat where locals eat :) therefore couchsurfing seems to be a good option to do just that :) but I grew up in the city, so I don’t mind staying in the city of course :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling solo is wonderful. Most of the time I stayed in hostels because I love meeting people from different cultures. I find it fascinating and whatever the age connections are made. Sometimes more easily than back at home.
Having a homey environment during my travels - even for a few days - is nice and feels good to the soul. Therefore couchsurfing:)

Music, Movies, and Books

The power of now is a book I would recommend to everyone. I went to see Eckhart Tolle at a conference in Paris in 2017. That man is incredible. The courage to be disliked, the Tibetan book of life and death. And some 20th century French authors.
For music, I love Queen, the Beatles (been a fan since I was a teenager). I like different styles, it really depends on my mood.
Eat, Pray, Love. I have not read the book, but I have seen the movie countless times.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did Everest base camp in 2018 in Nepal. All the different landscapes, changing from one day to the other, the mental and physical challenges, the self motivation, the mutual motivation, your fellow travellers that become like family, the cold, the cold sleeping bag, the frozen water bottles, all of it was truly a magical and powerful experience.

Also my 10-day Vipassana retreat in India in 2020.

Teach, Learn, Share

It is NEVER too late to start something new.

Love yourself.

Be kind. Always.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you French and cook easy dishes :) Or combine both and give you a cooking class in French :)
I am also a good hiking buddy.
