Overview
About Me
I'm a student of Development Studies and also work as a consultant part-time. I'm from Berlin but have lived in Egypt (Alexandria) as a child, and later in the Nertherlands (Rotterdam), Canada (Vancouver), Chile (Santiago) and now the UK (Oxford).
I'm a nature-lover and outdoorsy person in my free time. I'm also a big fan of yoga, bouldering, running, as well as modern arts, reading, cycling, drawing, going to festivals. I also love eating well and will hopefully at some point also become an acceptable chef myself...
I like having a glass/bottle of wine and talking to my friends, family, and new people for hours.
I‘m an optimist.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've always enjoyed traveling a lot and - as cheesy as it sounds - I especially love talking to locals, trying their food, learning more about their culture, seeing the beautiful and also the problematic things in their countries.
I guess that's why I especially loved traveling in Latin America, where I was able to practice my Spanish and talk to people from all kinds of backgrounds.
Couchsurfing is such a great opportunity to meet interesting people who are open-minded, like to share their experiences, and/or are just happy to share their home with others. I think the fact that people don't want you to pay for your stay makes it a very special, trustful & anti-capitalist project, which I find very intriguing! ;)
I couch-surfed once, on Bali, which was a really nice experience. We went out for dinner with our host, he showed us around during a moped tour, etc. This motivated me to continue couchsurfing - even though I've admittedly not tried it out ever since!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: When I go out, I mostly listen to electronic/techno music (Dirty Doering, Rampa, Mimi Love, Mira & Chris Schwarzwaelder etc...). But if there's an 'oldies' dancefloor, you'll probably find me jumping around there like a happy child.
I also really enjoy some rock from the 60s/70s (Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix), RnB/hiphop from the 90s/2000s, some indie.
Movies. Generally, I'm not a huge fan of mass productions, but of course some of them are worth watching...
Some movies I liked: Moonlight - 39,90 - Into The Wild - Inception - Léon the Professional - The Game - Hors de Prix - The Dreamers - The Life of Brian.
Some books I enjoyed:
Yalom: The Spinoza Problem.
Vásquez: The Sound of Things Falling.
VS Naipaul: A bend in the River.
Hesse: Steppenwolf.
Flaubert: Madame Bovary.
Houellebecq: Platform.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Listening to the howler monkeys at 4am while watching the jungle waking up from the top of an excavated temple in Tikal (Guatemala). One of the most beautiful things I've experienced!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories about my travels to Latin America (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Southern tip of Brazil, Peru, Uruguay) as well as about Berlin and Germany more broadly (living here, going out, perhaps advice for travelers).
My advice. I like listening to people's stories and helping, if I can.
I can also share some things about my studies, my research about women's rights in Colombian urban contexts, etc.
My mediocre but enthusiastic baking skills.
