About Me
I hosted for years with my daughter when she was younger but had to step back from participating a while. My siblings had used this platform in early 2000's to travel and talked me into being a host. I have met some wonderful travelers through it all and love that they encouraged me to join. With my daughter now being grown and out of the home, I am looking forward to now being the traveler more than the host.
I have a large family so I'm used to people a lot of different personalities. Open to meeting just about anyone as long as you can respect me I can definitely respect you :) I do have pets and am open to others pets as long as they are well behaved. Open to showing you around given I have the time, I'll at least point ya in the right direction. There's tons to do in Wilmington there's beaches, downtown, riverfront, museums and everything in between. I even have a bike you can borrow if you want.
I have traveled the US extensively and am looking forward to more international adventures.
Ask me anything I'm an open book.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I grew up in a poor family yet my parents did everything they could to introduce us to the world outside our farm. Weeks long camping road trips over the summers with many "hosts" that my parents found along the way. It taught me the best things to see when traveling are the people, the history and nature in the areas all while respecting how they are different. If not for this amazing network of people my parents made through family, friends and more often than not just people they met along the way; I never would have gotten the experiences I had as a kid that have carried with me through life.
Finding an online community that expands that thought worldwide and makes it easier to connect it something that I hope I can always participate in. Traveling and getting to experience other cultures shouldn't be limited to only the wealthy. To be honest I have met people who have travelled the world in hotels and resorts that know very little about the places they went. With the most local interaction they had being paid events or the staff they encountered. That to me seems like a horrible waste.
Interests
I love to meander. I don't like to call it hiking. I'm not trying to get there the fastest and often not even setting specific time frames. I will always stop to look at the cool stuff. That may be the waterfall, the birds, the flowers or that weird looking thing over in the distance. I choose the side quest often.
Live music makes my soul happy.
Anytime I can even dip toes in the water is a good day, floating in it with friends is a great one.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite music will depend on my mood. You find a bit of everything in my playlist. I don't watch a lot of TV outside of news but I do have a love of movies from the 80's and Disney movies. Books, yes. ALL OF THEM.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Kayaked 3 miles down the coastline with pod of dolphins. Danced on a sidewalk with James Brown.
