About Me

Hey, I'm Olli! Not sure about what else to say at this point.

I'm currently living on top of a hill in Halle in Germany with my flatmate Caro in a very cosy appartment. We like to hang out whenever there's time for it, we cook for each other and often sink into deep conversations over a glass of wine or two.

My friends often describe me as a very fun person to be with, but being German and all I tend to be very straightforward and frank because I like to avoid misunderstandings. You could even call it blunt - but I do not mean any harm!

I'm easily filled with enthusiasm for nearly anything (as long as I get my ass out of it alive and well) - be it motorcycling or knitting.

Still trying to improve my English skills, but man - it's really use-it-or-loose-it...

I really enjoy working with my hands. Creating something unique and very personal for my friends and family really fulfils me to the point where I'm forgetting to eat and sleep properly while "crafting". For this sake I've had work experiences in very different crafts like joinery, welding, graphic design and car mechanics. DIY is a very important part of my life. That includes repairing things rather than buying something new. So if you're able to do something cool and useful I'd be happy if you could teach me :)!
I also enjoy drawing and you will notice that I always carry around a sketchbook and at least one sharpened pencil. It's usually filled with portraits and landscapes and things around me I see and take an interest in, but I'm also influenced by japanese manga and Anime styles.

I like both staying inside and reading a book/watching some series/gaming whatever's there and going out visiting museums/partying/looking at amazing landscapes/FOOD (I want to try EVERYTHING :D!! As long as it's vegetarian/pescetarian!)

Yup. That's about it.
Easy-care and modest as long as you do not wash me above 40 degrees celsius

PHILOSOPHY

Even if you don't know exactly how, try repairing your stuff. It'll help reducing the amount of waste you produce and sometimes make you feel invincible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to count! I've seen and read a lot, but I think I tend to like SciFi, dystopian scenarios and fantasy the most.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have this very peculiar hobby...
Two years ago a friend and I were riding our motorcycles south to the Eifel, an extremely popular area for motorcyclists in central Europe. We only used a map with the most important routes and the names of some small villages.
So we came across a village called "Oberlauch" which in German is an insult on a person. We stopped by and I took a picture of the name sign. And the map was full of similar funny-named villages and towns.

So it became a habit stopping by and taking pictures of the signs - which lead to creating a blog for them. So every German person out there can enjoy this :)!
