About Me

My name is Omkar (pronounced Om—from yoga 🧘‍♂️—and car 🚗 with a K).

I’ve been traveling on and off for the past four years, and travel has become a way of life rather than a break from it. I’m currently living in Bogotá, where I have my own apartment, and I’m open to hosting fellow Couchsurfers who value genuine connection, conversation, and cultural exchange.

I’ve backpacked almost all of India, with the exception of a few mainland and northeastern states. To me, India doesn’t feel like one country—it feels like 28 countries within one, each with its own food, languages, landscapes, traditions, and rhythm of life. Experiencing that diversity shaped how I travel and how I meet people.

Along the way, I’ve also visited places that many people from India rarely travel to. There’s a common belief that travel must be short, rushed, or extravagant—I like to challenge that idea. I believe in slow travel, depth, and meaningful experiences over checklists.

The pandemic shifted my perspective on life in a big way. It made me realize how fragile and precious time is, and since then, I’ve chosen to live more intentionally—meeting people, exchanging stories, and being present wherever I am.

Right now, I’m traveling through South America, and Bogotá is home for this chapter.

Hosting Arrangement 🛏️
• Shared room with a private comfortable bed
• All basic amenities
• Kitchen available
• If you plan to cook full meals, please bring your own groceries

⏱️ Hosting limit:
I can host for a maximum of 2 nights, so please don’t send requests longer than that.

House Rules 🏠
• This is my personal apartment, so I ask that it’s treated with care and respect at all times.
• I don’t have an extra key, so guests cannot stay in the apartment when I’m not home. If I go out, you’ll need to head out as well.
• Couchsurfing is about exchange and shared experiences, not just a free place to stay. I enjoy hosting people who are curious, independent, and open to interaction.
• Please be self-sufficient during your stay—this isn’t a place for hanging around all day without engagement or purpose.
• Cleanliness and basic consideration are expected. Leave shared spaces as you found them.
• Respect personal boundaries, time, and the home as you would want yours to be respected.

Before sending a request, please include the code word “Home” so I know you’ve read the profile properly.

A Few Tips for Requests (Please Read)

I see many new Couchsurfers struggling, so here are a few helpful tips:
1. There’s no need to offer anything—meeting someone interesting is the real CS reward, for both hosts and guests.
2. Personalize your request. Why do you want to meet me?
3. Include your WhatsApp / Telegram / Signal for quicker replies.
4. Traveling with someone? Let me know who they are.
5. Couchsurfing can be a great adventure—treat it like one. As with most things, more effort usually means better results.

Good luck 😉

Important Notes

NOTE: Please don’t send a random “hi” or a friend request unless we’ve met in real life or already know each other.

NOTE 2: Couchsurfing is not a dating app. Please don’t use it as one.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I believe it’s always in the little things. One such incident that I remember of is when I was travelling with my parents. We were on the train station and we saw a little girl asking for some water to the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper denied the water but still the girl kept her composure. I was observing this incident from a distance and I had half filled bottle of water. I just offered the girl my bottle of water without a second thought and her sparkling eyes made me quite emotional. It’s always the little amazing things :)
I believe in Giving without expectations which has brought immense amount of joy to me over my short life so far.

Other things:
Moved to China to learn Tai Chi and Kung Fu 🥋
Lived in a remote village in China for a month and led a slow life.
Saw his holiness the Dalai Lama in real life.
Bought bicycle in Sumatra and biked 500km.
Hitchhiked more than 25000km worldwide.
Bought a motorcycle and went from south of Vietnam to north. 2.5K km.
Backpacked 35 countries.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m good at negotiations, maybe we could go on a tour of your local market and I’ll get you a good deal 🤫🤭

What I Can Share with Hosts
