ABOUT ME

I have not updated this for a while… someday when I have time.

Like most people on this site, I'm a bit of a free spirit. I spent a year volunteering in Jamaica. I tried to promote an interest in reading and did different things, similar to social work, in the communities. I've traveled a lot in Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota working at various resorts either cooking or serving. Spent some time overseas and would like to tour more of the US, but will leave the continent when the opportunity arises. My last job was working with troubled youth at a theraputic wilderness program in UT I did that for over a year (slept outside and cooked over a fire at work). I then lived at a rural Catholic lay community and enjoying homesteading and promoting non-violence and green living. This summer I assited with retreats given by the Community of St John's in various states, including Alaska! What a dream. Did some temp work and now I'm heading back to Canada to stay at a Catholic Lay Apostolate.

Have had more hosting experince than surfing.

Interests

Walking, snowboarding, snowshoeing, camping, hiking, rock climbing, putting a fishing pole in the water (if I said fishing it would imply I actually catch something now and then), cross-stitch, wilderness survival skills, organic gardening/farming, woodcarving. I generally like the outdoors and have a special appreciation for waterfalls. Last but not least, matters of faith.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: All time favorite, The Princess Bride, otherwise (have to admit it) I really liked The Next Generation Star Trek movies and of course Lord of the Rings. Music: Alternative Folksy, Mason Jennings, Hem, Jim Keaveny. Really like Beck and in general anything with a good tune. Books: Big CS Lewis fan especially The Chronicals of Narnia and his sci-fi trilogy. Just discovered George McDonald.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make fire from sticks. Life is lived well when it's not just about yourself. I'd like to learn to be more humble and not to use imperatives words and phrases like should, need to, have to, ect... And I'd like to learn Map and Compass skills.
