About Me

***update*** I will live and host in Quebec City starting from August 2024.

You want to be hosted? Here are some tips:

📸 Have clear face pictures (2 at least)
📝 Get references (by going to cs events or cs hangouts)
🕵️‍♂️ Fill your profile (with interesting text)
⛩️ I sometimes take in tourists (but I am more likely to take in travelers seeking for something intangible, on some quest or an inner pilgrimage)
💥 I should get a sense that we will connect somehow (so be personal)
🌍 You can write to me in either 🇫🇷🇬🇧🇧🇷🇲🇽🇮🇹

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

🏠 WHY I HOST
Happiness is real when shared.

✈️ WHY I TRAVEL
I travel to study design solutions embedded in past and present cultures.

Interests

🎸 I am infinitely curious about musical traditions. When I travel, I am usually avidly composing music and taking local traditional music lessons. So far I've learned musical traditions from the Appalachian region, Veracruz, Turkey, Bali, Brazil, Georgia and Hanoi. Let's jam!

🗣️ I'm a language nerd. I read about grammar before going to bed. I hope to write a descriptive grammar of Quebec French spoken along the Saint-Lawrence River.

🖍️ I used to draw all the time when I was young and became an animator as a career. I teach visual arts and can help you unlock creative thinking.

🎥 I studied cinema. Do you want film recommendations?

🧗 When traveling to cosmopolitain cities, I always bring my climbing shoes. Bouldering is my favorite sport. It's challenging, brainy, non competitive, fun, and a good workout! Up for a daily climb?

🤹 I can barely stretch to my toes but I am dedicated to train my body through play and dance. I want my body's flexibility, agility and strength to be the result of a joyful process. If you're in the mood for meditation and workout, I'm your gym buddy!

🏒 During the winter months, I take my hockey stick and skates to the park. The ice rink is one of the last urban spaces where socializing with neighbors is normalized. You play a sport? Please bring me to play soccer, basketball, tennis, or anything you do!

➰ Textile making, weaving, knots. Men at sea were masters of these knowledges. I want to know how to make knots for any situation. I know 4-5 useful ones for now, perfect for camping excursions!

🧠 Some of my couchsurfing guests introduced me to theories about human psychology and neurodivergence which have greatly improved the quality of my relationships with myself, my family, my partners and coworkers.

🌌 I started star-gazing whilst doing woofing. I know a few constellations, but I want to know them all! When the sky is open and dark, you'll find me head in space.

🎭 A comedian couchsurfing host introduced me to the art of stand up comedy in Brazil... I then got into improv theatre when I came back to my hometown. I now play in shows from time to time.

👨‍🎓 I'm going back to school to a graduate degree in interaction design. Ultimately, I want to provide a practical methodology on how to create and maintain healthy communities. Got insights?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

🥣🫂 🧑‍🌾🏘️ 💞 After visiting the "Soup!" project in Detroit City, Michigan, USA, I was inspired to import the project to my hometown in Montreal. I grew vegetables and turned them into soups. I then invited my neighbors for monthly dinners where they would have to vote for a local project lead by an individual in our community. The money raised during the event was granted to the project that the community deemed most important at the moment. This event ran for many years and was called "Soupe Locale". Provincial and municipal governments supported the project and today it exists in different parts of the Quebec province and contributed to hundreds of microfunded projects, stronger neighborhoods and a rise in civic participation.

🏡🏡🏡 I co-founded a non-profit that develops the very first out-of-market and perpetually affordable cohousing projects in Montreal (www.villageurbain.org)
