About Me

Hello! 😊 Welcome to the Old Orchard. My name is Paul and the arc of life has taken me to many interesting places and has connected me with so many amazing people. We have hosted many couch surfers at our home in Leonia NJ (just outside NYC) and have had the pleasure of meeting many travelers from all over the world. I love and live the saying 'a stranger is a friend you haven't met'. 🙏

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because the secret sauce to life is karma and 'paying it forward'... connecting with people, strangers is where the magic happens. I believe in the culture of couchsurfing and as an 'ambassador' want to help cultivate and grow the community of couchsurfers.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love variety in music; 60s, 70s, 80s rock, jazz, big band, foreign music - Italian. Not a huge movie person, adventure is always fun, documentaries. Favorite book: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and currently reading many books that speak to longevity, health-span and personal growth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmm... tough one, taking the 'road less traveled' has always yielded the the best life experiences. I'd say back packing through Honduras and Nicaragua; negotiating/ navigating a seven day trip on a cayuco boat down the Rio Cocco (boarder river) and out to the Caribbean all the while having no idea how or where I was going.

Teach, Learn, Share

Never stop learning! The most interesting and valuable personal growth happens outside one's comfort zone, this is what I'm drawn to. Living and sharing personal misogi challenges is central to happiness.
