CURRENT MISSION To outgrow the bullshit I too often let take up my time, become less critical, and develop the fiercest humour possible in this obscenely absurd world. ABOUT ME I'm an incredibly silly and inappropriate person. I laugh (seagull squawk-like) at satin boxer shorts covered with hotdogs (is there really a big enough market to justify their mass production?), accidentally spilling spaghetti in my crotch, taking a private moment to fart only to find that a work colleague has sneaked up on you and you both have to go through the agonising sham of pretending you can't smell it, old women slapping away each other's hands from their purses in the fight over who's going to pay for coffee (the ridiculous pretence!), William Shatner, and more. PHILOSOPHY (Forgive the earnestness in this response but the question itself is an earnestness trap!) I believe we're all hypocrites, we're all full of shit, we're all scared - and so when you have a wonderful time with someone and laugh and are honest and admit your silly nonsense and hear their's - you feel awesome and your faith in humanity is reaffirmed.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I love the couchsurfing project because you learn more about a city's history and culture from a local than a thousand museums - and it's so much more fun. And because as a traveller I've so often experienced the inexplicable kindness of strangers I definitely want to help out others in my home town. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I've just heard about couchsurfing. I'm an as yet couchsurfing virgin!
Music, Movies, and Books
Music on my ipod: Bjork, Radiohead, Portishead, Aphex Twin, Dead Prez, Destiny's Child, Aretha, Johnny Cash, and more. Movies I love: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Annie Hall, Children of Men, Zoolander, Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion (and others but I can never remember them when asked). Authors I love: Ann Tyler, Nick Hornby and have just read Slaughterhouse Five so have now fallen in love with Kurt Vonnegut.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Sitting in a dusty roadside restaurant (if you can call it that) in Yemen with about thirty local men - all of whom carried a machine gun and stared at me open-mouthed, in absolute wonder.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love writing for performance and am lucky to have some wonderful mentors - I could share what they've shared with me and I would love to learn from other theatre/filmmakers but I think I could learn something from almost anyone!
My Interests
I love coffee and cake, good food, gin martinis (the drier the better), boogying down on the dancefloor (almost always fuelled by vice), theatre, movies, politics, books, the beach, people, the exclamation mark - everything!
