About Me
Hello there,
My name is Philip and I‘m currently traveling through Latin America with my partner Shaleen for a year. We are from Berlin and recently quit our jobs to fulfill this dream of ours.
We are planning to take a month for each country to truly get to know the culture and people. That’s why we love to couchsurf again as we have made great experiences in the past and met amazing people and friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We love meeting people that actually live in the places we visit. Only them traveling really broadens your horizon I think.
Interests
We are interested in different customs and cultures around the world and the stories and daily lives of people living in different places. To explore this during our travels we actually started a podcast and magazine to embrace and capture these topics. You can find us under we_wander_why on Instagram, YouTube and Spotify.
Before we went on this trip we worked in a tech company in HR and project management. On the side Shaleen is volunteering as a mentor, while I‘m coaching people to develop themselves personally and professionally.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love watching good movies, which I passed on to Shaleen during our relationship. Some great movies recently were:
Shaleen is more of a book lover, which she is getting me into as well more and more. Currently we’re reading:
Music is a big passion of mine. I actually brought a small dj set with me and am planning to record techno and deep house sets in interesting locations during our trip. Apart from techno and house we listen to singer songwriter music like Sean Koch, Sticky Fingers, Monolink, Tash Sultana and are interested in exploring more latino music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was an exchange student in Florida my host mom, who is a vet, woke me up at 3AM saying there was a whale stranded and we had to leave in 5. I helped the group of vets and marine biologists to give it medicine and poured water over it till the sun went up. Unfortunately we weren´t able to save it, since it was already laying there for too long. Nevertheless I will never forget being so close to such an amazing animal.
Teach, Learn, Share
We can share all about the culture we grew up in and countries we visited, teach some German if you are already learning the language or offer coaching or mentoring sessions if a suitable topic comes up.
In return we would love to learn more about your culture, learn traditional recipes and get to know your area from a local point of view.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can cook, keep the room clean and tidy and become a new friend. Getting to know people and having a good time is the whole point of couchsurfing.
