To write, make music, and cuddle up to the void.
I am a poet and composer. I make my living playing the typewriter and saxophone.
I'm a secular humanist leaning into the future. Being awake and alive is my primary goal, followed by the pursuit of art and love, then protest. In these twilight years of the American empire, I am looking for a radical redefinition of our global culture, a turn towards sustainability. This implies developing self-awareness, for which I find meditation, poetry, and music useful.
In terms of philosophy schools, I'm most influenced by modern atheists (Dawkins, Hitchens), anti-civilization advocates (Jensen, Zerzan, Berry), post-Marxists (Chomsky, Beaudrillard, Zizek), post-colonialists (Spivak, Galeano), modern mystics (Melchizedek, Starhawk, Merton) and Buddhism (particularly Zen, which I spent years studying in monastic settings).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surf and meet and celebrate. Sometimes go to CS social events. When I have a bigger place, I will host regularly.
I'm a veteran couch surfer. I've hitch-hiked, hoboed, and flown my way across the U.S. and Canada for over five years.
Saxophones! Pianos, guitars, singing. Living close to the land. Socialism, cats, dogs, kids, adults, photography, the elderly. Sanity and insanity. Bran flakes, soymilk. Poetry, prose, surrealism, realism, contact improvisation, zazen, Ubuntu Linux, Bitcoin, and other open-source projects, free jazz, walking, conversations with heart-centered beings.
