To do as many of the things, I love, as I can! Which mostly means: work hard on popularizing soil science, soil ecology and environmental science, discovering new things. Every once in a while get stuck in my fantasy world of writing and reading.
I have found one of the things I really enjoy doing which is being a soil ecologist, I love how crazy and complex the world beneath our feet really is. I teach both in university and high school (environmental science). So basically everything to do with the environment is very important to me. This ofcourse can be sometimes difficult or even depressing when looking at the bigger picture.
I love hiking (especially love islands, northern countries, bogs, tundra), having long discussions with interesting people (the kind when time just flies), getting lost in the fantasy world of books, tv shows and movies; I like architecture (mostly minimalistic) and sustainable urban planning examples, I love it when the environment allows people to be outdoors as much as possible, even in our climate. I admire people who live a minimalistic lifestyle (tiny/small houses etc) and to live in a different way than most.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Host, surf sometimes, meet up for coffee or beer. I don´t got to official meetings much.
Seen many countries and cities through the eyes of locals thanks to CS. Also have been hosted by the most wonderful people in Columbus (Ohio) and northern Norway. Have hosted some very cool people as well and some I´ve just shown around Tallinn or other bits of Estonia.

Music, Movies, and Books
books: sci-fi, fiction, educational, even though I´ve read plenty of classical literature, that is not really my thing. I would often rather read something light, not as artistic, but with intersting (not predictable) characters and storyline.
movies: Big Fish, Into the wild, Tim Burton movies, Fantastic Mister Fox, Moonrise kingdom, Safety not guaranteed, I origin etc.
tv shows: Black Books, Parks and Recreation, That 70s show, Torchwood, Spirited, Haven, Outlander, Veronica Mars, Dead Like Me.
music: Nouvelle Vague, Scandinavian Music Group, Magenta Skycode, Sigur Ros, Belle and Sebastian, Bon Iver, the Weepies, Sufjan stevens, Ane Brun, Hollow Wood, Abigail Washburn, Ewert and the Two Dragons etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
What do you mean "one"??
Seen thousands of amazing diatoms, collembolans and mites etc - seen what goes on inside the soil (or at least a fraction of it) - and they are not "creepy" :)
Appreciated the small things in life - getting my fingernails dirty from gardening, breathing fresh air while hiking, the morning frosty air on my way to the bus, cooking from scratch, field work (e.g soil sampling at Tallinn airport), and so much more.
Science expedition to Morocco
Trying to cook soup on a primus next to the Barents Sea in Northern Norway. The wind was crazy and we never managed to get the soup warm, but the crispness of the air, the colors - amazing!
Slept in a hut on top of a waterfall in Finland
All the teaching and learning experiences! it´s not a task, duty - it´s an opportunity, a chance to do something great, understand the world better.
