PHILOSOPHY
"I began by seeing how man was formed by circumstances-and what are
circumstances?-but touchstones of his heart-? and what are touchstones?
but proovings of his heart? and what are proovings of his heart but
fortifiers or alterers of his nature? and what is his altered nature but
his Soul?-and what was his Soul before it came into the world and had
these provings and alterations and perfectionings?-An
intelligence-without Identity-and how is this Identity to be made?
Through the medium of the Heart? And how is the heart to become this
Medium but in a world of Circumstances?" John Keats, 1819
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like hosting people, cooking with them and sharing recipies from far away, and mostly the unexpected things which always tend to happen which foreigners.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted many people while in Berlin, had some really nice experiences, mostly with those which stayed more than a few days and had part of themselves to share.
Interests
Let me try to describe interests in a kind of 'biographical order', it will perhaps be easier!
The first two interests to appear when I was young were probably reading, at that time especially chivalry novels and detective and adventure stories (Alexandre Dumas, Michel Zévaco, Maurice Leblanc, Jules Verne, etc.) and hiking (Nature, Auvergne, horse-riding, etc.).
Then I turned into a geek and learned programming, started reading a lot of science-fiction and fantasy (C++, Java, Perl, Tolkien, Asimov, Bordage, Simmons, etc).
A bit later I started watching movies and I became a bit addicted to it at times, especially Korean and japanese films (Miyazaki, Bonh Joon Ho, Kurosawa, etc.)
Since I started to have some freedom then I also started traveling a bit (Ireland, Scotland, India, Turkey, Canada, USA, etc.)
When I got my own kitchen I somehow got interested in cooking (Palak Paneer, Pom-pom quiche, mushrooms, Nems, cheese, etc.)
Then I landed into a scientific life and became interested in non-equilibrium statistical physics (Boltzmann, Maxwell, Jaynes, Kolmogorov, Kraichnan, etc.).
Around the same time I started trying to get a political conscience (which isn't quite there yet), so I turned to ideas on ecology, anarchy, and that kind of stuff (Naomi Klein, Michael Albert, Ester Duflo, Alain Damasio, etc.)
Oh and at some point I started doing amateur theatre (Dürenmatt, Berkhoff, Molière, Jarry, etc.)
Then I moved to Berlin and there was suddently many people trying to live differently (foodcoops, associative bars, associations, etc.)
